Because this part is also true, AND we don't have a *reliable* way of telling the difference between the "simulation" and the real deal...if there's no way to know with certainty that you're NOT accepting LLM-generated syntax...well, that's a recipe for moral injury, no?

A really great piece from @biblioracle.bsky.social. This part hit especially hard, because I'm living it right now, and all I can say is that while it's true, I think it's also literally a recipe for writing teacher burnout/moral injury.

One of my students today was like, "Do you know of that 'green lady' in Brooklyn?"

And I said, "yep, I've seen her on the internet!"

And the student said "I mean this in the best way, I promise...I think you give off similar vibes, just with more colors than just green!"

I just happen to be in an “ask for tech support” section on Duolingo but it did make me giggle last night when so many of my questions seemed to know about the AWS thing!

I absolutely love spotting these sparkling leaves bedecked in beads of water! Kiddo was giggling at me on our walk home from church because I wanted to stop and take a picture of every single one, though none of them look quite so magical in photos as they did to my eyeballs.

Thanks to this post, I got my COVID & flu shots today at Costco! Hooray for Novavax! (I’d get mRNA if it were my only option, but with those, I’m utterly incapacitated for like, 2 full days. Novavax is just a sore arm and a bit of fatigue.)

Starting to look like fall! And yes, this particular Cleo skirt has become my unofficial “bi day of visibility” uniform…I bought the fabric because I just loved the colors, but it delights me that I inadvertently made myself a bi-pride skirt.

Today is the 2-year anniversary of adopting Hocus, Pocus, and Focus (our trio of kitties) so I'm just looking back at their kitten photos. Such cuties! They're actually in H-P-F order in this one:

Focus wanted all the snuggles when I got home after orchestra rehearsal this evening! (Photo credit goes to the kiddo)

Baking bread in my own kitchen for the first time in 6 weeks!! Didn’t realize how much space was cuing my memory of what to do…so disorienting! But amazing to have good light and nice counters and to be able to talk to family members while baking because I’m not behind a wall!

We have a working kitchen sink again! It is glorious!!

Went on a walk with the kiddo this evening and it wasn’t exactly NOT raining, but it was light enough to not be too bad and the clover just looked so pretty with the sparkly droplets of water!!

Look at this precious sleepy beast!!

My last bite of Cheerios this morning was a frowny face and it made me laugh. I’m with you, Cheerios!

Three kitties enjoying the heck out of the plywood “temporary countertop” that is actually going to be our sink.

I’ve walked past this “suboptimal” installation so many times this year (it’s part of my 1k walk from the parking lot to my office), but finally stopped today to read about it.

Pocus is very done with kitchen remodeling. Alas, kitchen remodeling is not done with Pocus!

We have light!! And it’s dimmable, and OMG, even without the lighting that’s gonna go over our snack bar, it’s already so much better than the lighting in the Before Kitchen.

This cat is very pleased with himself.

It’s starting to actually look like a kitchen as of this afternoon! (Photo credit goes to my spouse, @awatts.bsky.social)

Like…sure, it’s mildly flattering that I apparently sound good enough to be mistaken (by a dumb auto-flagger) for a professional recording, but it’s actually infuriating that I can’t just share my own violin playing with friends to laugh at my stupid brain fart, you know?

I’ve been making practice videos again as part of my current round of 100 Days of Practice, and I posted this one to my FB; it’s the first video I’ve posted to my main page in awhile, and sure enough, UMG immediately claimed it. I AM SO SICK OF THIS!!

For people who like progress photos: here’s what things looked like as of last night! They’re sanding this morning to prepare for painting.

Kitchen at the end of Day 1!
July 15, 2025 at 11:08 PM
Kitchen demolition has begun. I’ve got my Loops in (for as long as they’ll stay; my ears seem to push earplugs out and I’ve tried tons!) but holy moly my nervous system is so jangled. So loud. So loud.
