Every rescue begins in black and white: an animal injured, orphaned, or stranded. But when you support WRSOS, you help turn that moment into something vibrant — a safe rescue, a successful transport, and a return to the wild.

Our team also educates the public about safe coexistence with wildlife, helping communities protect both animals and people. Every act of support helps Saskatchewan’s wildlife thrive.

In our graphic, you’ll see animals in black and white—but your support brings them back to life in full colour. Every rescue, every transport, every tip relies entirely on donations and grants, because we don’t receive government funding for this free service.

We rescue and transport injured, orphaned, or displaced wild animals safely to licensed rehabilitators. Using a science-based approach, we make sure wildlife gets the care they need and, whenever possible, a chance to return to the wild.

Thank you to everyone who looks out for Saskatchewan’s wildlife, especially our smallest neighbours who need a bit of extra help in winter.

If you ever come across a bat on the ground or exposed during cold weather, don’t lift or warm it yourself. Call our provincial WildLine at 306-242-7177, and we’ll guide you through what to do next.
November 20, 2025 at 1:58 AM
At this time of year, bats can’t be released back into the wild. Once winter sets in, they must come into care so they can be safely overwintered in hibernation.

A thoughtful passerby covered the bat with a glove and left a clear warning note so no one would disturb it until help arrived — a simple act of kindness that made a big difference.

We also remember the animals that stood beside them, who worked, protected, carried, and comforted them. Their service was given without hesitation, and their sacrifices are part of our shared history. May we hold their contributions with respect and gratitude.
