day 15 part 1-

katsuoji: it's the strangest thing, I felt more at home here with the daruma than I do here. I have two dolls at home that I plan to take back with me in the future

shinsekai: a fascinating area. big colorful signs looking like a theme park, with a sick arcade

buzzed lightyear: 草
November 15, 2024 at 12:38 AM
day 14 -

mt. tenpo: I will protect this small mountain with my life

osaka aquarium kaiyukan: I love a good aquarium, and this was a very, very good aquarium. one of the large tanks was even empty in preparation for a new exhibit and there was still plenty to see. a+ highly recommended

day 13 -

hiroshima: I wish I had given myself more than a day for hiroshima. americans tend not to think about the human cost of what we did, and for all the talk of american resilience in the face of tragedy I'm pretty sure they did a far better job of recovering from far worse. beautiful city
November 11, 2024 at 2:29 PM
day 12 -

osaka castle: the scale of the moat and sheer size of the stones was absurd. the castle itself was a nice museum, lots of beautiful design work

osaka museum/history: love a good museum and this beautiful boy

museum of housing/living: very easy to forget where you are, very very nice
November 10, 2024 at 7:03 AM
day 11 -

dotonbori: in hindsight it's interesting how similar but very different the energy of osaka was from tokyo. I once saw a group of like ten guys drunkenly dancing by the river, it was great

ripndip: I had never heard of ripndip before this moment and now it's all o can think about

day 10 part 2 -

asakusa, sumida river: this was the last day in tokyo for a while. spent a lot of time along this river in the first few days, had to give it one more look before leaving

asagayaminami: hell yeah extremely relatable
November 2, 2024 at 1:56 PM
day 10 part 1 -

kichijoji station: I'd forgotten other places tend to skip thanksgiving so it was a bit of whiplash immediately after halloween. and way to spoil the surprise!

former yasuda garden: beautiful little park next to the sword museum, which was sadly closed by the time I arrived
November 2, 2024 at 1:37 PM
day 9!
for an unknown reason I fixed it??

institute for nature study: another phenomenal example of a forested area that makes you entirely forget you're in the middle of the city

metropolitan teian art museum: beautiful japanese/american mansion with a sick turn of the century ska room
November 2, 2024 at 5:52 AM
day 9 -
for an unknown reason I'm unable to add any more photos to this thread at the moment, so for now,

near meguro station: couldn't help but love how colorful this view was
November 1, 2024 at 6:22 AM
day 9 -
freshness burger kanda suda: i have no memory of how I ended up in this exact location, but I remember aspiring to be the surfing man

mysterious man: people watching near kabukicho on the night before halloween, this Australian newscaster stood like this for an hour. very nice guy
October 31, 2024 at 4:54 AM
day 8 -
smorking prohibited: this was the only place this typo appeared

daikanyamacho: this whole area was simultaneously adorable and beautiful - architectured rather than engineered, but beautiful

shibuya halloween: was a little sad that it was mostly locked down, but I get it
October 28, 2024 at 1:18 PM
day 7 -
ntt intercommunication center: the staff here were incredibly nice! they gave me a lot of incredible insight and background on the art I would have never caught on my own

dramatic hole: a very good name

kabukicho: people say it's "dangerous", but still safer than most of where I'm from
October 27, 2024 at 5:02 PM
day 6 -
sangenjaya: i may be a huge nerd,

setagaya: sadly I didn't get any pictures of the event itself, but there was a huge bread festival. waited in line for maybe an hour, but it was entirely worth it for the best focaccia I've had in my entire life. extremely good time.
October 26, 2024 at 3:07 PM
day 5 -
akihabara: accidentally arrived before anything opened. felt a lot like a theme park, in a way, but the fashion was on point

shibuya: honestly the scramble ended up being a sidenote, which I guess I should have expected. the hachiko memorial and the tokyo station labyrinth were top tier
October 25, 2024 at 5:16 AM
day 4 -
akihabara: really enjoy the accidental composition of this one; for every one old video game shop there was a "Blu-ray/DVD" porn shop and two electronic repair hobby shops. and colonel sanders as a mage

kabukicho: still safer than anywhere I've ever lived,
October 24, 2024 at 4:32 AM
day three -
ganji (curry restaurant): very pleasantly surprised to see a pride flag! wish I had known at the time this was a restaurant

isetan sign: after relocating to the Shinjuku area and exploring all day, ended up forgetting to eat for way too long and overheated. thank goodness for isetan
