katsuoji: it's the strangest thing, I felt more at home here with the daruma than I do here. I have two dolls at home that I plan to take back with me in the future

mt. tenpo: I will protect this small mountain with my life
osaka aquarium kaiyukan: I love a good aquarium, and this was a very, very good aquarium. one of the large tanks was even empty in preparation for a new exhibit and there was still plenty to see. a+ highly recommended

hiroshima: I wish I had given myself more than a day for hiroshima. americans tend not to think about the human cost of what we did, and for all the talk of american resilience in the face of tragedy I'm pretty sure they did a far better job of recovering from far worse. beautiful city

osaka castle: the scale of the moat and sheer size of the stones was absurd. the castle itself was a nice museum, lots of beautiful design work
osaka museum/history: love a good museum and this beautiful boy

dotonbori: in hindsight it's interesting how similar but very different the energy of osaka was from tokyo. I once saw a group of like ten guys drunkenly dancing by the river, it was great
ripndip: I had never heard of ripndip before this moment and now it's all o can think about

asakusa, sumida river: this was the last day in tokyo for a while. spent a lot of time along this river in the first few days, had to give it one more look before leaving
asagayaminami: hell yeah extremely relatable

smorking prohibited: this was the only place this typo appeared
daikanyamacho: this whole area was simultaneously adorable and beautiful - architectured rather than engineered, but beautiful
shibuya halloween: was a little sad that it was mostly locked down, but I get it

ntt intercommunication center: the staff here were incredibly nice! they gave me a lot of incredible insight and background on the art I would have never caught on my own
dramatic hole: a very good name
kabukicho: people say it's "dangerous", but still safer than most of where I'm from

sangenjaya: i may be a huge nerd,
setagaya: sadly I didn't get any pictures of the event itself, but there was a huge bread festival. waited in line for maybe an hour, but it was entirely worth it for the best focaccia I've had in my entire life. extremely good time.

akihabara: accidentally arrived before anything opened. felt a lot like a theme park, in a way, but the fashion was on point
shibuya: honestly the scramble ended up being a sidenote, which I guess I should have expected. the hachiko memorial and the tokyo station labyrinth were top tier

akihabara: really enjoy the accidental composition of this one; for every one old video game shop there was a "Blu-ray/DVD" porn shop and two electronic repair hobby shops. and colonel sanders as a mage
kabukicho: still safer than anywhere I've ever lived,

isetan sign: after relocating to the Shinjuku area and exploring all day, ended up forgetting to eat for way too long and overheated. thank goodness for isetan
