I think a lot of it has to do with consumer trust. When Valve launched steam, it was revolutionary and made games not only more accessible but cheaper simply because they cut out the disks and packaging.

What’s the point of consoles anymore honestly? sure it’s inexpensive compared to a PC due to the excessive price of GPUs, but now there is almost no exclusivity..
Not to sound like a PC elitist snob, but the only console worth buying now is Nintendo.. and they’re already on people’s shit list..
