I don’t know what the legal definition of a monopoly is, but I can’t see how Amazon isn’t a monopoly if it’s functionally impossible to buy things somewhere else.

but 2 or 3 times now I’ve had the odd experience of buying something from Ebay and having it arrive from Amazon.

I caved once and bought a book I couldn’t find anywhere else, but otherwise I’ve been Amazon free for over a year.

I think what annoys me is not specifically the focus on prices, it’s dismissing everything else in order to pivot to prices
