It only matters what the Supreme Court and/or the Court of Public Opinion has to say about it, if/when it gets that far.

It’s October 5 and I am still swimming outdoors. Crazy how warm it has been here in Oklahoma for this time of year.

Channeling all the New England energy I can for the Sox / Yankees Elimination game tonight. #GoSox

Not necessarily. For example, I don't vote for OG&E's rate hikes, at least directly. They go before a government agency that approves the hike.

Public utilities are still subject to monopoly (e.g., electricity, water). And, as many are experiencing across the country, the rates are going up continuously.

I don't understand how just declaring internet a "public utility" would fix the issues you mention.

Pro Tip (especially for students): If you're writing a cover letter or email for a job and you use a template from Word or from AI, be sure to remove tags like "[Job Title]" and "[Hiring Manager's Name]" from the document. If you don't, your application will very likely be trashed.

Thank you.

Nice cyclonic spin in north central OK with a cool front sweeping into NW OK and eventually the OKC metro later this afternoon/evening. Cooler weather on the way!

I tell my METR 5403 students:

1) Correlation is not causation.

2) Relying heavily bivariate correlation, and not considering other co-varying relationships or other models, to make critical decisions in fields like climate or medicine can lead to wrong and possibly dangerous conclusions.

Those on an H1B cannot return to the US from tomorrow (Sunday) unless paying $100K. This is an out-of-the blue presidential action. We’ll see software engineers stranded abroad.

One easy to predict outcome: those on US visas will travel less… for work, for conferences etc.

Consider applying for a position on the SAGE Energy Task Team or the Predictability Task Team! It's a wonderful opportunity to get applied work for S2S!
