Deepest thanks to everyone who thought me writing about fiction over the last few years was worthwhile. I'm moving on to other things, and have written a farewell: www.voguehorror.com/books/the-la...
The Last Post: (farewell and thanks) — Vogue Horror take scary seriously. Reviews of Movies, Books, Video Games, and Events.
I’ve put off this final message for far too long, but it is an obligation I took on when I started this project—one that became all the more pressing as the site grew, flourished, and ultimately withe...

I loved Scurry by Seann Barbour—a slow-burn indie horror with real emotional bite. Serial killers, sentient cockroaches, and a coming-of-age story that hurts. Full review here 👇

Book Review: Scurry by Seann Barbour (2025) — Vogue Horror take scary seriously. Reviews of Movies, Books, Video Games, and Events.
I’m pleased to say that Scurry feels like a big step up for Seann—a culmination of all these years of grinding in the indie space and building an audience. Right up to the end, I was dialed into thi...

What if the monsters in our stories were born from real ecological collapse?
I reviewed Haunted Ecologies by @coreyfarrenkopf.bsky.social — a bleak, brilliant collection of environmental horror.

Book Review: Haunted Ecologies by Corey Farrenkopf (2025) — Vogue Horror take scary seriously. Reviews of Movies, Books, Video Games, and Events.
Farrenkopf’s writing style is fresh, creative, and appreciably direct, generally putting the reader right into the story without laying out too much behind or ahead…The prose is polished and accessibl...

Got laid off and freaked out for a minute, but ultimately decided to keep reviewing fiction. Here's my take on Ellen Datlow's sixteenth installment of her flagship horror anthology: www.voguehorror.com/books/best-horror-of-the-year-16-review
Review: The Best Horror of the Year Volume 16 – Standout Stories and Highlights — Vogue Horror take scary seriously. Reviews of Movies, Books, Video Games, and Events.
The sixteenth annual installment of Datlow’s flagship anthology series features some excellent work, and it’s a great read for anyone looking to catch up on the acclaimed short fiction of recent years...

Not sad that the Scrivener license I purchased seven years ago is still valid.

Does anyone actually highlight portions of text and drag them to another place with the cursor intentionally?

If anyone has some good recs for horror films or books out of India, please send them my way. Doesn't have to be new.

Companion was solid, though I think it's a better film if it plays for comedy a bit more than it did. Highs and lows across its attributes.

The person who approved that super-spoilery second trailer deserves so much ire.

I've literally reached out to cover artists and brought them further business because of this.
Please remember to credit your cover artists when doing the big cover reveal. With all the AI slop out there real artists and designers need to be seen now more than ever.

If I ever write a review title like this, drag the hell out of me please.

Got up in the middle of the night last night because I couldn't put down Hollow House by Greg Chapman. Feels like just what I need right now.

Off to see The Substance on its return to theaters because it may well be the best horror movie of the last few years.

Watching Mulholland Drive again and again as a teenager, never quite understanding it but instinctively trusting that it was worth struggling with is a top-five formative creative experience for me. David Lynch's catalogue of work has had such an influence on how I digest and evaluate art.

The ebook of House of Bone and Rain is just $4.99 for a limited time! Every copy pushes me closer to a second contract with Mulholland, so please get you some. It’s dark and violent and weird and strangely beautiful and full of magic. Many thanks!
