Now you’re insulting me to distract from the horrors enabled by the party you’re committed to defending. Is having to carry water for this stuff starting to take its toll on you? We share like 80+% of our politics/goals. Both you and Dems have the capacity to be better. But only if you try.

If our only recourse under representative democracy is to withhold our vote, then we definitionally need to allow a worse candidate at least 4 years. It’s a huge flaw in American democracy. But many choose it over accepting genocide as part of politics. Dems theoretically will listen better than R’s

Biden oversaw and provided arms, logistical, and diplomatic support for the abject destruction of Gaza and the genocide of its civilians. Don’t you dare try to minimize that. And you say Dems offered more than “better than the other guy.”
December 31, 2025 at 5:25 AM
Of course Trump’s worse. But if our only options are to allow our leaders to do either genocide or turbo genocide, can you blame people for staying home? For casting their (lack of a) vote for a more moral party? For finding the message “you have to vote for genocide to save democracy” sickening?
December 31, 2025 at 5:17 AM
Be honest. He was a primary provider of arms to a state committing genocide, not to mention defending it rhetorically, logistically, and diplomatically. Israel crossed his “red lines” constantly. Of course he’s better than trump but we don’t need to live in a world where those are the only 2 options
December 31, 2025 at 5:05 AM
Progressive like her support of fracking, her border stance, her vow to continue Biden’s record high gas production? Israel? She had some proposals I wanted. But surely we agree her messaging was skewed rightward? Many who’d’ve voted for her heard more from her about Cheney than her wealth tax.
December 31, 2025 at 4:52 AM
And she said she wouldn’t change any of Biden’s policy. She reaffirmed her support of Israel over and over. She shut down pro-Palestine protestors and kept a Palestinian from speaking at the DNC. Calling for ceasefire while arming one of the parties is performative and nothing more.
December 31, 2025 at 4:35 AM
I hate Trump voters as much as you do. I could argue that it’s a failure of civic duty to allow Dems to shift rightward to court undecided voters while taking their base for granted. Many argue it’s a failure of civic duty to allow both parties to commit genocide. Dems have to work for votes to win
December 31, 2025 at 2:49 AM
The campaign pivoted rightward to try to win. It focused messaging and policy to try to earn votes it couldn’t count on. But it prioritized centrist votes over progressive ones because the former’s were considered earned & the latter’s owed. Clearly withholding votes gave centrists power there, no?
December 31, 2025 at 2:44 AM
If votes can’t be usefully withheld then then we don’t live in a democracy. We can only watch helplessly as our “team” ignores our needs and pivots right. There’s no mechanism for politicians to be accountable to their constituents. The tea party threatened to withhold votes and took over the Rs
December 31, 2025 at 2:30 AM
I voted for her, because I understood the consequences. Don’t lecture me about that. There are many people in the country who think differently than you or I who would have voted if offered more than “we’re better than the other guys.” If Dems want to win, they need to take that seriously.
December 31, 2025 at 2:25 AM
What’s important isn’t the pre-vote consensus, it’s the actual outcome. The Dems can rage and blame voters (and I get it) or they can evaluate what under their control they can change for next time. One place to start is treating votes as earned, not owed. I urge you to get out of your bubble.
December 31, 2025 at 1:09 AM
One way you could frame it is Rs acknowledging that everyday people in the 2020s struggle and suffer. And, for all that they lied, scapegoated minorities, obfuscated the real reasons (billionaires etc), they promised to improve people’s lives. While Dems offered bandaids
December 31, 2025 at 12:28 AM
People stayed at home in record numbers in 2024. A party can rage futilely at them (and I get it) or it can focus on what it can actually control and make changes for next time. One change it could make is treating votes as earned, not owed.
December 31, 2025 at 12:14 AM
You don’t need to explain how bad Trump is. I voted D.My point is that Harris lost badly to one of the most compromised candidates in history. That’s on the campaign. Take a hard look at what can be done better in the future. Giving the party a pass is letting all those vulnerable communities down.
December 30, 2025 at 11:47 PM
I fucking voted for her. Calm down. Some of those people getting abducted are my fucking friends. It’s for them and everyone else that I want a better Democratic Party, one capable of actually winning layup elections.
December 30, 2025 at 11:31 PM
If this is how democrats treat people who ask for more than the lowest bar possible from their elected officials/candidates then it should be no surprise that potential voters stayed home in record numbers. And Chappell even voted for her!
December 30, 2025 at 8:10 PM
I find the idea that voters can fail politicians and not the other way around to be deeply undemocratic. I understand where you’re coming from, of course. But people are going to rankle if a party’s main message is “you have no other choice but to vote for us.”
December 30, 2025 at 8:03 PM
I beg you to listen to the people affected by ICE and this country’s immigration system before making claims like this.
December 27, 2025 at 6:42 PM
You& I both know that I’ll grit my teeth and vote democrat until there’s a better option& that may never happen.

My point is there are millions of voters with values different to ours, who may have voted if given a reason more solid than “you have to.” If we want to win we have to give them more.
December 17, 2025 at 5:31 PM
“Your vote is owed and it’s selfish to expect your elected officials to care about or represent you” isn’t much more convincing.

I’ve voted democrat my whole life but I can’t even express my dissatisfaction with them? Dems have lost millions of people and this attitude is a big part of why
December 17, 2025 at 5:16 PM
The things I want being an opposition party capable of winning elections and one that considers my vote and those of my friends worthy of working for rather than owed? If those things don’t exist what’s to stop me from staying home?
