Considering they've taken many of their greatest hits seemingly from 1930's Germany, it's not that far of a stretch to believe this was their attempt at a Kristallnacht against the trans community. We wonder why they went after education so swiftly.. Sadly, it seems to be their Reichstag now.
The pretext The violence was framed as a spontaneous retaliation for the assassination of German diplomat Ernst vom Rath in Paris on November 7, 1938. The assassin was Herschel Grynszpan, a 17-year-old Polish Jewish student whose family had been expelled from Germany along with thousands of other Polish Jews. Widespread violence and destruction On the night of November 9, Nazi leaders, including Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels, used vom Rath's death as a pretext to incite violence. Throughout Germany and annexed territories, Nazi gangs (primarily the SA and SS) and civilians destroyed and looted thousands of Jewish-owned businesses and synagogues. Devastation Mobs burned over 900 synagogues, destroyed 7,500 Jewish businesses, vandalized homes, and desecrated Jewish cemeteries. The name "Night of Broken Glass" refers to the shattered glass from the windows of Jewish-owned shops and buildings that littered the streets. Arrests and deaths An estimated 91 Jews were murdered during the violence. In the days that followed, some 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and sent to concentration camps, such as Dachau, Buchenwald, and Sachsenhausen. State-sanctioned Although portrayed as a spontaneous outbreak of public outrage, the pogrom was planned and organized by Nazi leadership. Police and fire departments were instructed not to intervene, allowing the destruction to continue unchecked. Aftermath The Nazi regime further persecuted the Jewish community by placing the blame for the damage on them, imposing a collective fine of one billion Reichsmarks, and forcing them to clean up the destruction. The lack of a strong international response to the pogrom signaled to the Nazis that they could continue their campaign of persecution with minimal external resistance. Escalation Kristallnacht marked a shift in Nazi policy from discriminatory laws to open, state-sponsored violence. It foreshadowed the systematic and industrialized extermination that would come with the Holocaust

It's apparently World Pet Memorial Day today. It seems fitting, considering my sweet baby, Hera, had to cross the Rainbow Bridge yesterday after 13 years.

Language is a human construct, just as gender is. I find it interesting how much we fight over our the "meaning" of things when more often than not, meaning can either be highly personal or something generated and agreed upon at a community level. Ask 10 people what love means, get 10 responses.

Today was an adventure. I go to get my haircut, she asks how much she needs to cut off.. I wanted to let it sit just off my shoulders.. that didn't happen. Then after cutting it all too shortly she starts to dry my hair. Didn't realize she was straightening my hair.. had to GTFO and fix that.
