It's not a template per se, although we might riff off the elemental template a bit — genies. Since we have the fusion & flux planes, that's 16 elemental planes. Each could have its own kind of genies, mephits, and other elemental creature. So start with a core creature, then add its planar details.

Our government is both denying the existence of and attacking trans people. (No irony there.) In #Free5e, we added "chosen [name]" to the Gate spell, so it won't work if you deadname the target creature. Small changes clarify rules and bring inclusion.

#Free5e has become a much more complex project than, "Slap together some CC-BY content, add pictures, Export." We made changes for inclusivity, but those had rules repercussions, so we're combing through everything for consistency & simplicity. And it's beautiful.

We're playing around with monster templates a lot for Free5e. Each template drastically increases the number of total monsters, essentially double. Then you can stack them, so the options increase exponentially. So right now, that's what I want more of.

Snowmelt from the mountains flows into aqueducts, forming a network through Stoneharbor. Merfolk swim in these aqueducts. Some drain into pools w/ wheelchairs designed for leaning forward, back arched, more comfortable for merfolk posture than sitting. Those allow them to reach the rest of the city.

I’m confused about a definition.

We honestly haven't done a whole lot with the Monstrous Manuscript. It's an extremely rough draft. I think that description is based on the Oni, so it will likely get changed.

Hard to know the motivation. Maybe they had some encounters planned that would use them up, and you'd need them for the end boss. But, "Right outside the lair are the remains of those who have gone before: bones, broken swords, mangled armor, broken bows, full quivers that they never got to use."

That's what session 0 is for.
But I also say that players don't owe the game anything. It owes you fun. Do what's fun as long as it doesn't break the game or anyone's fun.
But I also haven't played Organized Play. I can see the need there. (Clearly wasn't the situation in your case.)
