IDK, it seems the thing that drew so many in from the get go, was an inherent selfishness, or at best, obliviousness. An active disregard or even contempt for the Americans that they perceived as ’other’.
I mean, the ‘cultural elite’ at their worst were never as viscous as this red wave has been.

Take Donald Trump, for instance. Born with a boatload of money and has since grifted and conned his way to billions. But his motivating forces, anger and resentment, are in no small part due to him being rejected by NY society as a tacky low class dude from Queens.

Surprisingly, I was able to navigate my way in (I’m terrible at this stuff). So weird to see all the protections. Mostly grateful to have been spared I guess. But rudeness is on for now. It was like I had a parent in there😅
