that said, I think Gotthold is actually a decent case for "instinct" since his devotion for Kurt is genuine

well, they try to frame the Shadow side as "freedom" and "instinct" and Light as "order and reason"

but so far the only "freedom" we've seen is Bartholomeus committing massacre, and apparently being captain of an imperial squad that doesn't exist

ok so according to the world-building so far

these human-animal hybrid people behave a lot more like humans with no semblance of whatever their animal-hybrid is--

unless they form a pact with fenris THEN their animal-specific features gets more pronounced

so is it just human=good, animal=bad?
