What I'm saying is that I understand this move strategically, but whether he can execute it worth a shit remains to be seen.

It didn't, which is why I'm cautiously optimistic. But securing the CR first without sacrificing his position on the DHS bill was the right move. He can actually push harder on the DHS bill now, provided he finds his spine.

I'd recommend pumping the brakes for a second. The move Schumer made (separating the DHS spending from the CR) allows him to separately negotiate on that bill later, and will have more leverage to to so.
This isn't to say he won't screw the pooch later, but he hasn't screwed it *yet.*
