Wow, teach me your secrets! When I try to point out nightmare for privacy these things are (from insecure IoT devices to commercial data collection to state-sponsored actions) people just always seem unphazed.

Maybe Meta should change the name of the department from PR to Reply Guys, because that seems more appropriate to the energy they're bringing.

On Mastodon there's an option to follow people but not see their re-posts. It seems like that would help somewhat. I would have expected that to exist on Bluesky as well, but I admit I don't see a way to do that in the UI. The closest thing I know of is the OnlyPosts feed.

What about all the people who go everywhere in what are sweat pants or flannel pants, flip flops, exercise gear, or technical outdoors gear (think Arcteryx or Patagonia)? I feel like that would be a pretty noticeable difference in casual culture from the 90s.

If there were a standard governing the allowed length and characters in a password that was widely followed, do you think that hash-based password generation approaches (e.g. hashapass) could have been viable as an alternative to password managers?

I wonder if this is actually viewed as a plus by some services (e.g. news and streaming sites), since it makes sharing an account more difficult and annoying.
