Movies that feel like an Xbox 360 game 7th gen cinema, movies that pair well with Hot Pockets and a can of Monster. Gritty, edgy action blockbusters mostly popular from the late 2000's up to about roughly 2013. Expect copious amounts of digital blood and filters aplenty. Other visual signifiers include heavy emphasis on guns and the military (with occasional ventures into the realms of sword and sorcery, zombie apocalypses and dystopian sci-fi), gratuitous gore and swearing, conspicuous CGI and of course, heavy usage of desaturated brown/grey/dark blue and dark green colour palettes. Actual video game adaptations are cheating.
