Dedicated servers can be pretty cheap, eg oneprovider.com/en/search and tend to make more sense than any on demand service (no surprise bills) but my advice would be to ignore the cloud and just use an old laptop at home/office. Laptops tend to happily idle on low power so it works well as a server.
