In this work, Goldsworthy not only critiques the “shoving” theory—much like Peter Krentz and George Cawkwell—but also presents a compelling and well-reasoned alternative that, in my view, largely resolves the debate.

Unfortunately, it appears you may have overlooked Adrian Goldsworthy’s seminal 1997 study. I doubt you’re unfamiliar with it.

Ram No. 1 also has no visible decorations (decorative rosettes don't count), but it has an inscription. However, there are questions about its provenance.
