This Friday my whole lab went to the field looking for overwintering larvae of milkweed beetles (Tetraopes tetrophthalmus). To our surprise, we found them in almost all plants, and one plant had 6! Still not sure if all were Tetraopes, but they all look Cerambycidae. Thoughts on traits to confirm?

Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this year‘s cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

I am really grateful for the huge interest (>500 applications) to pursue graduate studies in my lab, starting in 2026. In the following weeks I will notify the shortlisted candidates for a Zoom interview.

Good luck to all applicants!
