It's Christmas market season (Weihnachtsmarkt) in Germany. The one in Wittlich (pictured) is small, as the village has 20,000 residents. Cities such as Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin have much larger markets. They started in German-speaking parts of Europe; the oldest one recorded was Dresden in 1434.

#FossilFriday: This unnamed species of lower Jurassic ichthyosaur was collected from County Warwickshire, south of Birmingham UK in 1955. It is on display at the Think Tank Museum in Birmingham.

#Fossilfriday: Pseudorhina alifera, a species of angel shark from the Upper Jurassic Solnhofen Limestone of Germany. Pseudorhina is the oldest known genus of angel shark (145-150 million years ago.)

A local landmark in Birmingham UK, Ozzy the Bull (named after Ozzy Osbourne) was originally created for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He was later moved to his new home in New Street Station, a major train station in Birmingham.

#FossilFriday: Juvenile and adult skulls of the ornithomimid Gallimimus, from the Upper Cretaceous of Mongolia. Gallimimus is the largest known ornithomimid, and like other ornithomimids, likely possessed large arm feathers. Gallimimus is well known to the public, due to the #JurassicPark movies.

#FossilFriday: Velociraptor mongoliensis, a dromaeosaurid theropod from the Upper Cretaceous of Mongolia. Though famous for its appearances in the #Jurassicpark and #jurassicworld films, the Velociraptor in those movies is actually modeled after Deinonychus, a much older theropod.
