Congressional Candidate Kat Abughazaleh on Parable of the Sower, and Her Love of Sci-Fi
I’ve been following Kat Abughazaleh’s career for years, starting with her work as a researcher and journalist for Media Matters. Her insights on politics and the American right, and her ability to …

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

Just finished Black Dust by @aliseay.bsky.social. A satisfying single-sitting horror novella. A mutation of Flannery O’ Connor -esque Southern Gothic exploring themes of alienation, othering, rural decay, intergenerational trauma, spiritual redemption. Go read it. #BookSky #HorrorSky

AI generated genre fiction book covers are the fucking worst. Not only are they antithetical to the entire ethos of art, but they’re aesthetically nauseating. I want to support indie authors, but if you’re ok with visual slop I can’t assume that your writing must be much better. #BookSky

Happy 250th birthday to the incomparable Jane Austen. Today I reflect on the many times I’ve made reference to one of her books while discussing popular culture with an acquaintance and witnessing their blank stares because they have no idea what I’m talking about. Her legacy lives on. #BookSky

I just preordered this. The kicker is that a coworker who’s a fence sitter / latent Zionist gave me a Barnes & Noble gift card for the office gift exchange and that’s what I used to purchase the book. 🍉 #BookSky #HorrorSky
this is up for preorder now :)

Indie authors that randomly follow me: I’ll give your book a shot provided that there’s a free sample available. I won’t follow back if your book wasn’t my thing. A word of advice to folks who self-publish. In the name of everything that is sacred in literature, please find an editor. #BookSky

CR: Sky Daddy by Kate Folk. ✈️ This book is FUCKING HILARIOUS. Having grown up in the Bay Area during the burgeoning tech boom and as an SFSU alum the setting has so many familiar sights and sounds. #BookSky #SkyDaddy

Finished Andromeda by Therese Bohman. A narrative of grief, alienation, & nostalgia told through lives in the publishing industry. Flowing, melancholy prose straddling tones of vulnerability & defiance while reflecting upon raison d’être & what defines meaningful relationships. #BookSky #LitFic

Legendborn by @tracydeonn.bsky.social is an absolute triumph! Its reveals at the end literally had my jaw hitting the floor. Fun coincidence that I had music on while I was on the final part of the book & Petey Pablo appropriately started playing during the battle scenes. #BookSky #Fantasy

Today I was fortunate enough to hear my neighbors engage in a brilliant rhetorical exchange with one another which was comprised entirely of the phrases “I can’t hear you, ho!” And “You’re ashy!”

CR: Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. Really out of my comfort zone w/ YA fantasy, but I feel the need to support this series. So far enjoying the commentary on gender & race intertwining with Arthurian Legend, but I’m readjusting to the style of YA narration. #BookSky #YAFantasy #YAFiction
