There's a #windytales anime episode about a school teacher who loves to travel alone, and his monologue is one of the finest pieces of writing I ever read

This track from the OST of 8MM is mesmerizing, played during an establishing scene when the location moves to Hollywood, perfectly encapsulating both the multicultural aspect of the city and the eerie mood of the film.

Niu-Peng (1989), a pretty obscure but beautiful Dai Sijie film, semi-autobiographical, about a boy sent to a mountain work camp for playing a record during the Cultural Revolution. The scene where he uses a cigarette as an incense stick is seared into my memory forever.
