I should mention that when the resolution would change and the image would hyper-stretch, OBS drops signal. The passthrough video feed throughout the entire ordeal was functioning. Most of the issues are OBS compatibility. The main issue that wasn't OBS related was Dynamic Resolution stuff.

I'm not super informed about the fancy details, but I assume this what Motion Adaptive Deinterlacing is for. I imagine this device is fine for like 7th gen systems hooked directly up to a TV, but for PS2 through a capture card I cannot recommend it. I'd rather just use the ABLEWE and Composite.

This is where I believe what I hear about certain Retrotink products comes into play. I tried 3 games and two of them were fine. I assume they ran at a consistent resolution. The 3rd however would change resolution between Menus, FMVs, and gameplay. The lower res stuff would go super wide stretched.

Eventually OBS would just instantly crash on startup. I restarted my PC hoping to fix that, which led to me finally getting a signal through OBS for the first time, which also meant audio. Picture was clean, lag was low. Seemed like things were looking up. Then I decided to switch games.

As I fiddled with OBS it for some reason would affect my passthrough feed which doesn't happen with direct HDMI consoles. Resetting or powering off the PS2 would cause OBS to crash but still run in the background so when I open it back up to try again it'd make a duplicate which caused future woes.

I was testing specifically with PS2 running through an Elgato HD60 Pro and using OBS. From simply plugging all the things in, I had video feed on my passthrough. Seemed normal. But OBS did not agree, and I needed OBS's compliance if I wanted audio output.

I've gotten around to messing with the Newcare here, and I am once again surprised in testing these things. My experience so far with this device has been a nightmare. The troubles it gave me don't make any logical sense. It sort of worked right away, but once again my setup was an obstacle.

Overall, you get what you pay for, and for $7 I expected a much much worse experience. The gripes listed above are minor to me. Something like a Retrotink 5X would no doubt be leagues better, but what I got was a totally playable experience that felt better than playing the Anniversary Collection.

The most glaring issue I had was that I wasn't getting audio from the red composite input, only the white audio cable worked. I haven't tested enough to know if this is the ABLEWE's fault, or if my cable is just bad. It would fix temporarily though when I flipped the resolution switch on the device.

The image quality itself is tolerable, but noticeably bad. This thing isn't an upscaler, despite it saying so on the device. I knew this going in. The image of a SNES game blown to 1080p or whatever does onto my 1440p display results in a less than stellar image, especially in motion.

I've only had to time to test the ABLEWE so far, but to be honest I'm pretty satisfied for what $7 can do. I played through Contra 3 and didn't feel any lag. The image however wasn't streched to full 16:9 but it did feel like it was stretched a little with no clear way to fix that. Very serviceable.

I went through the Ninja Gaiden situation when Master Collection was released. I sought out 360 Ninja Gaiden 2, and ended up buying Master Collection anyways and enjoying that more. Notably, I don't have a One X or Series X, which would improve them greatly. Sigma 2 Black was my fave NG2 experience.

Weak and pathetic. Wide Stretch is a thing of the past. Don't they have phones? Vertical is the future. (fake opinion)

Renting these was always fun because of the box art confusion.
