People are going to suffer whether via the SNAP cuts or the ACA. The SNAP cuts are more manageable through civil society organizations and mutual aid. It’s a tragic calculus, but fights always are — and we need to be winning fights.

I sometimes get the sense that she *does* get it, but she’s engaged in a kind of narrative creation with an emphasis on what we might call “strategic optimism”. Which can be useful but sometimes misses the mark (like, I suspect, in this case).

I had the same initial reaction; this video from HCR is making me reconsider. I think at times Professor Richardson is a little too sanguine about the Democrats, but I respect her a lot and her case seems plausible.
