But my point being, canceling the book tour shouldn't necessarily be taken as hiding from the public where there were serious safety concerns of a vulnerable population.

I'd recommend never protesting at a Jewish space, it's just asking for trouble. He is a public figure that exists outside of Jewish spaces, go protest there.

Be as angry as you want. But his book tour, about antisemitism, was to take place in mostly Jewish spaces. Given the high levels of antisemitism in the US there are serious concerns to Jewish safety at these events now due to inevitable bad actors.
