L'État, à la base, ce n'est pas juste d'être une immense tirelire qui collecte des impôts et reverse des subventions aux entreprises et des allocations aux ménages.

Sa fonction première c'est d'assurer la production de services non marchands de qualité.

Je suis directeur adjoint d'un laboratoire CNRS/polytechnique, et un peu fatigué de la multiplication des situations humaines dramatiques (et de la perte générale de temps) induites par l'arbitraire/opacité des process "sécurité".

Vu les dimensions et la maniabilité des engins en question, une interception sans chute me semble un peu optimiste (mais j'ignore peut être certaines technos). Quant à l'interception avant entrée dans l'espace aérien, j'imagine qu'il serait délicat de faire subir ca à nos voisins/alliés.

Si ça peut vous rassurer un peu, cette pollution accélère aussi l'obsolescence anticipable de ces outils, qui s'empoisonnent eux mêmes peu à peu en apprenant de contenus générés
Mais l'humanité risque d'y perdre énormément d'ici leur disparition/rationalisation de leur usage

Dans certains cas (pas tous), il est question du compromis entre volonté de neutraliser une menace, et dégats potentiels au sol en cas de chute (la presse montre des image de drones commerciaux pour illustrer, mais les drones militaires sont vraiment le format au dessus, on se rapproche de l'avion).

Perso, je trouve que c'est là dessus que les établissements ESR devraient pousser, sinon on restera dans l'arbitraire incohérent à travers le temps, et donc chronophage pour les collègues (+ inhumain pour les victimes)

But it seems clear to me that the current level of lukewarm (at best) support to Dems will be sufficient, in a bipartite system, to salvage whatever remains of the US democracy.

I always think of the Spanish civil war, where anarchists accepted to be led into battle by communists (despite the former absolutely hating the guts of the latter, but respecting their capacity to put on an organized fight) to unsuccessfully oppose what was to become a very long dictatorship.

Short of that, I don't see how undecided votes can be swayed (and it increasingly seems they will have to be).
I know it fucking sucks but, again from the distance, you seem to be at one of those crossroads where the stakes are much higher than one's satisfaction with an agenda/leader.

My concern is that I never get to hear any support for the dems, rather a constant barrage of criticism on their character and lack of radicalism. If they are to be your best (if tasteless) choice against fascism, then you not only need to give them vote, but at least pay lip service to some agenda.

Thanks dude for this summary. I clearly saw the two "left-leaning" groups (democrats/left wing), although their radicality is a bit funny from a French perspective. I view the liberals as centrists, not because of ideological spectrum, but rather bc of their voting patterns, alternating dems/GOP

On the other hand, as an outside observer (but interested in the survival of the USA), I do not fully understand that so much energy on the "non-MAGA" camp is dedicated to hating democrats.
Shouldn't you attempt to unify and support any alternative to the current administration?

Ever tried the "Read The Fuzzing Paper" talk?
In the early days of Beamer, some of my Applied Maths colleagues would kinda randomly copy/paste from their Latex code into a Beamer frame (using "split" option, oc) and essentially read the paper in lieu of a presentation. Quite engaging...

Je suis un peu moins au point dans ce domaine, mais il me semble que seul le premier auteur est alors mentionné, sauf si c'est au coeur d'une liste de publis d'un labo (cad ayant en commun l'un des "derniers auteurs", qui sera alors mentionné)

En bio, j'entends souvent ne citer que l'auteur senior (donc plutot le dernier), ce qui donne "Machin et al", prononcé "TrucMuche's lab" :P
