A simulated pilot flying imaginary airplanes. Getting a little better every day.

Official spokesperson for the Republik of Yappistan Air Force (RoYAF)
This has been the summer of “Just say NO to Daylight Clear Skies (DCS) which means a lot of night and cloud flying.

Lots of learning but not so good for pretty pictures. You will have to take my word for it.

The RoYAF is preparing to defend the skies day OR night - with or without clouds.

The C101 is one of my favorite modules in DCS.

The RoYAF, however, has been evaluating the MB-339 for the past few months as a candidate to fill the primary instruction role.

My squadron mates may be right. The MB-339 might be the best module for training airmanship fundamentals.

It is an uphill struggle but I remain convinced that the so-called "training" modules are the best platforms for learning primary teamwork skills such as formation flying, basic comms, tactical maneuvering and low level navigation. Teamwork and coordination is where the real power lies.

Graduates of our air superiority training series have gone on to fly for the virtual 8th FS. They continue to do us proud.

The RoYAF says "No" to DCS.

(Daylight, Clear Skies)

A recent training event reminded me that the true meaning of DCS is” Daylight, Clear Skies”

We really need to fix this omission in our training program.

The DCS F-5E module has been the primary training module in our program mostly because it closely mirrors T-38 specs allowing us to use numbers and settings right out of USAF training manuals.

It was also relatively cheap for new people to get. With the remaster it is now much more expensive. #DCS

The DCS F-5E remaster overwrites the existing 3D models and liveries. If you fly with a mixed group - some bought the remaster/ some didn’t -then you can only see the custom liveries of those that made the same choice as you.
