I finally finished my @oldgodspod.bsky.social pony bead blanket, based on Old Gods of Appalachia’s Valentine’s logo variation. It’s gloriously heavy and contains 22,680 pony beads. I can barely crochet, but I wanted this pretty bad. 🙂🧶
Background is a mix of different kinds of black beads. Design is a blood red heart that gradually turns into roots that might be tentacles. The inspiration was the heart descending into roots that was a Valentine-theme T-shirt sold by Old Gods of Appalachia.

I love those boards with the pegs. All the pieces come out perfectly even without a lot of tedious pinning. I used one for a hexagon blanket. I put some blocking wires in, too. Cue the Star Wars theme.

Isn’t it nice? I made a cowl out of it years ago, my own design. Nobody cared about the cowl, but they all stopped me to ask what the yarn was. 😂 it’s Hedgehog Fibres DK, colorway is Wish. 50% silk 50% Merino.
Yarn label says Silk Merino singles. Hedgehog Fibres hand dyed yarns. Colorway is called Wish. Fiber content is 50% silk and 50% merino. Weight is DK.

Silver stocking has red, green and gold motifs of pine trees, the phases of the moon, runes, mistletoe, laurel, a candy cane stripe, snowflakes, candles and bells. The toe and heel are black, because I am a masochist. A large black motif of Odin’s spear is duplicate stitched in black over the other rows of Yule motifs on the leg. It looks like a square from argyle socks.

My Midwest Oracle just arrived from inimitable artist and knitter Alexandra Tinsley of Wild Hunt. I squealed at the Ranch dressing sacrament, the HELL gas station (yeah, those are real), and many more. I plan to work “Ope!” into a few conversations today and make a casserole with mushroom soup.
Oracle deck in the box, with three cards turned up on a weathered table. The Lake card has a webbed and clawed hand reaching up for a swimmer’s foot. The Sacrament shows a white-eyed woman with unfortunate hair pouring a waterfall of Ranch dressing on her salad at a potluck. The 24-Hour Gas Station card is a rendering of a HELL gas station, a very real place where you don’t want to discover you’ve forgotten your wallet at 3 a.m. Also in the haul are a skull-festooned Ranch dressing pin, a pin that reads “Ope” and a sticker sheet with some of the images. “Ope” is an all purpose Midwestern exclamation that means everything from “My bad” to “Bet you didn’t mean for your car to roll into the gravel pit.”

Blanket is a solid sea of crocheted-together pony beads, with fringe on the sides. The background is made with four styles of black beads to give it some visual interest. It looks speckled or sparkly. The design of this bottom half of the piece is several blood red tentacles. A close-up of the beading at a point where two of the red tentacles overlap.

Finished Red Tiger Designs’ Ice Blink socks. I spoiled myself with a hank of La Bien Aimée for these. The color in the first photo is true. I think the colorway is Primrose. 🧶
Blocked socks show the delicate pink and cream color of this yarn, along with tiny hints of deep green and a bit of blue.

Finished these little shorties with some leftover Knitting Goddess Yarn. Two dye lots, years apart, so they’re those fraternal twins who always are asked if they’re identical. 🧶
