I’m honored to organize this special issue with Vincent Castric @vincentcastric.bsky.social, Takashi Tsuchimatsu, and Eriko Sasaki. We’ve expanded #ecology and #evolution to #plant #physiology and #genetics🌱🧬. I look forward to seeing how #PCP goes toward this perspective👀

New paper out in @jxbotany.bsky.social! 🌱🌾

We found that mixing different wheat varieties can decrease belowground competition at early growth stages, especially under resource limited conditions.

Awesome work including natural history, chemical ecology, plant-pollinator interactions, and many other aspects. Must-read!

This paper, which was fortunately published in Science, is the fruits of more than 20 years of my scholarly pursuit in biology, and I believe that I have finally achieved one of the milestones, which I had envisioned in my mind, of my research. Below I would like to tell the story behind it.

As a guest editor, I’m especially interested in how to apply molecular and genetic tools to biotic interactions in nature. Thank Mie Honjo, Matt Barbour, Simon Groen @simoncgroen.bsky.social, & Samuel Wuest @samwuest.bsky.social for their contributions to this perspective.

New preprint of mine. Application of Neighbor #GWAS to #Arabidopsis thaliana biomass data uncovered the genetic architecture of negative frequency-dependent selection and overyielding. Now under review. Stay tuned!
