「九重連峰」(くじゅう〜、大分県)
玖珠郡九重町(くす-ここのえ-)と竹田市久住町(たけだ-くじゅう-)にまたがる火山群 ”くじゅう連山”。登山や牧場などで知られる観光地。
これは三俣山(みまた-)を中心に馬の放牧を描く。手前の赤い花はミヤマキリシマ、右端の道路はやまなみハイウェイか。広々とした景色が美しい。全長72cm。
[1970〜80年代/ #昭和レトロ ]
1. 九重連峰のペナント。白い布にイラストをプリント。黄色いフリンジ装飾付き。 2. イラストは九重連峰とその麓の高原で放牧される馬の群れ。 3. イラストの拡大。くじゅう連山の三俣山、久住山(くじゅうさん)、大船山(たいせんざん)とその麓の高原が描かれている。各山に山名と標高の表示、三俣山1745m、大船山1787m、久住山1788m．高原には様々な様子の馬が5頭。手前に描かれた低木はミヤマキリシマか、葉が見えないほどにたくさんの赤い花を付けている。 4. タイトルは和文。漢字で ”九重連峰” (赤) 。サブタイトルは英文で ”NATIONAL PARK ASO" (赤)。旗の右端に高原の道路(やまなみハイウェイ?)とそれを走る1台の青い乗用車、セダン。

【本棚】『未来の世界』学習科学図鑑シリーズ⑫/小学館/1967年
私が小学生の時に買ってもらったもの。1950〜60年代の科学技術を元に未来を予測する内容。表紙の建築の原案は黒川紀章。

書影と箱の裏面。『未来の世界』、学習科学図鑑シリーズ12。表紙は黒川紀章の設計による螺旋状の高層ビルと、宙を浮くように走るロケット型のモノレール(?)。箱の裏面は、核爆発を利用した大規模土木工事を描くもの。

"Futamigaura Bay", Ise, Mie Prefecture.
This pennant depicts the Meoto-iwa rocks (the rocks of husband and wife) and sunrise at Futami Okitama Shrine.
Length; 64cm (25.1in) . This pennant was produced around the 1970s or 1980s. #vintage
1. Futamigaura pennant. It features an illustration printed on white fabric, with two orange cords attached to the left side of the flag. 2. The illustration depicts the Meoto-iwa rocks and the sunrise. Meoto-iwa rocks is famous for the auspicious sight of the sun rising between the two rocks around the summer solstice each year. 3. Enlarged view of the illustration. The Meoto Iwa rocks in Futamigaura Bay and the sunrise rising between them. Blue, rough waves crash against the rocks. The sunrise, waves, and the coloring of the sacred rope and torii gate atop the rocks use red gold powder, making them appear vivid. 4. The title is in Japanese. Written in kanji characters: "Futamigaura" (red gold powder). The subtitle is in English: "National Park" (black).

「二見ヶ浦」(ふたみがうら、三重県)
伊勢市の二見興玉神社(ふたみおきたま-)。これは夫婦岩(めおと-)と日の出。岩の間から日が昇るのは夏至の頃とされ初日の出ではないが、代表的景観としてペナントの数がとても多い。紅色の金粉が鮮やかな作品。全長64cm。

1. 二見ヶ浦のペナント。白い布にイラストをプリント。旗の左にオレンジ色の紐2本付き。 2. イラストは夫婦岩と日の出。 3. イラストの拡大。伊勢湾に浮かぶ夫婦岩とその間から昇る日の出。岩には青い荒波が打ち寄せている。日の出や波、しめ縄と岩の上の鳥居に紅色の金粉が使用され鮮やかである。 4. タイトルは和文。漢字で ”二見ヶ浦” (紅色の金粉) 。サブタイトルは英文、”National Park" (黒) 。

熱田神宮のえと守、木彫りの午。大きさは約8cm。木製の箱付き。箱には筆文字で昭和四十一年えと守と書かれている。 Atsuta-jingu Shrine's zodiac charm, a wooden horse, approximately 8 cm (3.1 in) in size. It comes in a wooden box. The box bears the calligraphic inscription: "Showa 41 Zodiac Charm."

"TOKYO SKYTREE", ToKyo Prefecture.
Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting tower that opened in 2012, featuring observation decks and other tourist facilities. This is a commemorative pennant for its fifth anniversary.
Length; 51cm (20.0in) . 2017. #souvenir
1. Tokyo Skytree pennant featuring Sanrio characters. It consists of an illustration printed on pink fabric, with pink fringe and two pink ribbons attached to the back. The flag comes in an original rectangular clear vinyl bag with a sticker tag. The sticker tag title reads "Nostalgic Yet New Pennant." 2. The illustration features the Skytree and Sanrio characters. 3. Enlarged illustration. Against the backdrop of the distinctive scenery near the Tokyo Skytree's observation deck, Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, and Pompompurin ride in a hot air balloon. The balloon basket's pattern is pink and white argyle check. Also appearing are Tiny Chum clinging to a balloon, My Sweet Piano in another balloon, and Gudetama. 墨田区の東京スカイツリー、高さ634m。2012年開業。
これは2017年、開業5周年のもの。特徴的な展望台を背景にしてサンリオの人気のキャラクター、ハローキティやマイメロディ、シナモロールなどが集合。賑やかで可愛らしい作品。全長51cm。

1. 東京スカイツリー、サンリオキャラクター集合のペナント。ピンク色の布にイラストをプリント。ピンク色のフリンジ、背面にピンク色の紐(リボン)2本付き。旗はオリジナルの長方形透明ビニル袋入り、シールタグ付き。シールタグのタイトルは ”懐かしくて新しいペナント” 。 2. イラストはスカイツリーとサンリオキャラクター。 3. イラストの拡大。スカイツリーの特徴的な展望台付近の景観を背景に、ハローキティやマイメロディ、シナモロール、ポムポムプリンが気球に乗っている。気球のかごの柄はピンクと白のアーガイルチェック。シナモロールが卵を割ってぐでたまが登場。他、風船につかまったタイニーチャム、別の気球に乗ったマイスイートピアノなど。なお、サンリオ('76, '85, '17)および東京スカイツリーの版権表示©️あり。 4. タイトルは英文。ロゴはゴシック体、一文字づつ別のパステルカラー(ペールパープル、ペールイエロー、ペールブルー、ディープピンク)、"T" と "S" のみピンクと白のアーガイルチェックで ”TOKYO SKYTREE"  。

"Icebreaker Fuji", Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture.
This is a pennant from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force icebreaker Fuji (1965–1984).
Length; 65.5cm (25.7in) . This pennant was produced around the 1970s or 1980s. #vintage
1. The pennant of the icebreaker Fuji. It features an illustration printed on white fabric. On the left side of the flag are navy blue decorations and two ribbons. Icebreaker Fuji was operated as a meteorological observation ship for missions such as those to Showa Base in Antarctica. The home port of the icebreaker Fuji was Yokosuka. 2. The illustration is colored in two tones: navy blue and orange. It depicts the icebreaker Fuji, a map of Antarctica, and penguins in various poses. 3. Enlarged view of the illustration. Within a circular frame, the map of Antarctica and the location of Showa Base are marked with a Japanese flag. The map shows latitude and longitude lines, adorned with laurel leaves to resemble an emblem. The caption within the circular frame reads "JAPAN M.S.D.F.". 4. Title in Japanese and English. 「砕氷艦ふじ」(神奈川県※)
海上自衛隊の砕氷艦、ABG-5001。南極観測船初代宗谷に次ぎ第2代として1965年就役、84年退役。第3代はしらせ(初代)。
これは南極の地図とペンギン、そして”ふじ”。船体色のオレンジが印象的。ペナントの全長65.5cm。

※横須賀、就役時。現在は名古屋港で保存、一般公開されている。
1. 砕氷艦ふじのペナント。白い布にイラストをプリント。旗の左側に紺色の装飾とリボン2本付き。フリンジの装飾はない。 2. イラストの彩色は紺とオレンジ色の2色。砕氷艦ふじと南極の地図、様々なポーズのペンギン。 3. イラストの拡大。丸い枠の中に南極の地図と昭和基地の位置を示す日の丸。地図は緯度線、経度線を記し、月桂樹の葉をあしらってエンブレムの形になぞらえている。丸い枠のキャプションは ”JAPAN M.S.D.F. "。 4. タイトルは和英併記。和文で ”砕氷艦ふじ” 。英文で ”FUJI ICE BREAKER" (紺, オレンジ) 。

"Icebreaker Shirase", Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture.
This is a pennant from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force icebreaker Shirase (first generation, 1982–2008).
Length; 74cm (29.1in) . This pennant was produced in 1985. #vintage
1. The pennant of the icebreaker Shirase. It features yellow fringe decorating the top and bottom edges of the flag. On the left is a shield-shaped red decoration with two yellow cords attached. This pennant was sold when the ship was publicly displayed in Tokyo in 1985. 2. The illustration depicts an Antarctic landscape, penguins, and the icebreaker Shirase. The home port of the icebreaker Shirase was Yokosuka. Shirase was operated as a meteorological observation ship for missions such as those to Showa base in Antarctica. 3. An enlarged view of the illustration. The snowy Antarctic scenery and a flock of penguins are depicted comically. The foreground penguin is anthropomorphized as a sailor in a sailor suit, holding an "S" (yellow) from the "Shirase" (?) that's nearly as tall as itself, wearing a comical expression. The snowy plain in the background shows a penguin flock, while the first-generation Shirase is anchored in the Antarctic sea beyond. Its orange hull stands out vividly against the white Antarctic landscape. 4. The title is in Japanese: "Icebreaker Shirase”. It features a comical design with white snow and ice piled atop red lettering.

「砕氷艦しらせ」(神奈川県※)
これは”ふじ”に次いで建造·就役した初代”しらせ”。一般に南極観測船と呼ばれるが、海上自衛隊が運用する砕氷艦である。1982年就役、2008年退役。艦番号 AGB-5002。
このペナントは1985年に東京·晴海埠頭で一般公開された時のもの。南極の景色を背景にペンギンが可愛らしい。ペナントの全長74cm。

1. 砕氷艦しらせのペナント。旗の上下辺に黄色のフリンジ装飾。左に盾型の赤い装飾、黄色い紐2本付き。 2. イラストは南極の景色と砕氷艦しらせ。 3. イラストの拡大。南極の雪景色とペンギンの群れがコミカルに描かれている。手前のペンギンはセーラー服姿の水兵に擬人化されていて、自分の背丈ほどもある”しらせ”(?)の”S”の字(黄)を抱えており、おどけた表情である。背景の雪原には可愛らしいペンギンの群れ、奥の南極の海に初代しらせが停泊している。白い南極の風景の中にオレンジ色の船体が鮮やかだ。 4. タイトルは和文、”砕氷艦しらせ”。赤い文字列の上に白い雪と氷が積もったコミカルなデザインである。

"CHITOSE", Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture.
This is the pennant of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer Chitose. The destroyer Chitose was commissioned in 1973 and decommissioned in 1999.
Length; 73.5cm (28.9in) . 1985. #vintage
1. The pennant of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer Chitose (Hull Number DE-220). It features an illustration printed on white fabric, with a shield-shaped red decoration and two yellow cords attached to the left side of the flag. This pennant was sold during the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's training display in 1985. 2. The illustration depicts the silhouette of the Chitose (side view) in black and an anthropomorphized seaman seagull holding a torpedo. The seaman seagull has a smiling, cute expression. 3. Enlarged view of the illustration. The black silhouette of the Chitose is relatively small; the illustration's focus is the personified seaman seagull holding a torpedo. It is depicted alongside a comically large wave, giving a humorous impression. 4. The title is in Roman letters. Bold capital letters spell "CHITOSE" (red).

海上自衛隊護衛艦、DE-220。周辺海域の防衛を目的として、ちくご型と呼ばれる比較的に小型の護衛艦だった。1973年就役、99年除籍。
これは85年の展示演習時に一般に販売されたもの。カモメの水兵が魚雷(?)を抱えるユーモラスな作品。全長73.5cm。

※横須賀地方隊隷下時。
1. 海上自衛隊護衛艦ちとせのペナント。白い布にイラストをプリント。左に盾型の赤い装飾、黄色い紐2本付き。フリンジの装飾はない。 2. イラストは黒いシルエットで描かれるちとせの艦影(側面)と魚雷を抱えるカモメの水兵。カモメの水兵は笑顔で可愛らしい表情でコミカルな描写。 3. イラストの拡大。黒いシルエットで描かれるちとせの艦影は比較的に小さく、イラストの主役は魚雷を抱えたカモメの水兵である。北斎の神奈川沖浪裏を彷彿とさせる大きな波とともに描かれていて、とてもユーモラス。 4. タイトルはローマ字。太い英字で ”CHITOSE" (赤) 。

These are pennants commemorating the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's fleet review ceremony held in Sagami Bay in 1972.
Length; 60.5cm, 72cm (23.8in, 28.3in) . These pennants were produced in 1972. #vintage
1. Two types of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Fleet Review Ceremony pennants. Both feature illustrations printed on white fabric. 2. The upper of the two Fleet Review pennants. It features an illustration printed on white fabric. On the left side of the flag are two dark navy blue decorative ribbons. The illustration depicts a naval parade at sea and aircraft in flight rendered as black silhouettes. The ship number 213 is likely the Kitakami. The fluttering Self-Defense Force ensign is depicted in the background. The caption reads "Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force" in black. The title is in Japanese text, with "JMSDF 20th Anniversary Fleet Review Commemoration" written in smaller black letters on the right edge of the flag. 3. Fleet Review pennant, the lower of two types. It features an illustration printed on white fabric. 観艦式は内閣総理大臣(国家元首)が艦隊を観閲するパレード。これらはいずれも1972年(昭和47年)、海上自衛隊創立20周年時のもの。艦艇と自衛艦旗をモチーフにしており興味深い。ペナントの全長; 60.5cm, 72cm。

クリスマスイブの今日、帰宅したら通販で頼んだ映画「落下の王国」のパンフレットとポスターが届いていました。
それにしてもパンフレットのこの表紙、このカットを使うのかという驚き。

"Hatsuyuki", Kanagawa Prefecture.
The Hatsuyuki was a destroyer of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, with Yokosuka as its home port. She was commissioned in 1982 and decommissioned in 2010.
Length; 72cm (28.3in) . This pennant was produced in 1984. #vintage
1. The pennant of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer Hatsuyuki. It features an illustration printed on white fabric. The pennant has yellow fringe along the top and bottom edges, a red shield-shaped decoration on the left side, and two yellow cords attached. 2. The illustration depicts the destroyer Hatsuyuki sailing the sea. ”Hatsuyuki” means "first snow" in Japanese. 3. An enlarged view of the illustration. Hatsuyuki, cutting through waves, is depicted in the JMSDF's standard gray. The bridge, masts, and equipment are rendered in detail. A white helicopter is visible aft on the deck. Additionally, the motif of a snowflake (blue), the origin of the ship's name, and a map of the Japanese archipelago (red) are depicted. 4. The title is in Japanese hiragana: "Hatsuyuki" (yellow). The subtitle is the ship's hull number, "DD122" in black Gothic-style letters and Arabic numerals. The Self-Defense Force ensign is depicted at the right edge of the flag.

「はつゆき」(神奈川県※)
海上自衛隊護衛艦。はつゆき型のネームシップ (1番艦) 。1982年就役、2010年退役。
これは1984年の展示演習時に一般に向けて販売されたもの。艦名に由来する雪の結晶のモチーフ、日本列島や自衛艦旗が配されて興味深い。全長72cm。

1. 海上自衛隊護衛艦はつゆきのペナント。白い布にイラストをプリント。旗の上下辺に黄色のフリンジ、左に盾型の赤い装飾、黄色い紐2本付き。 2. イラストは海をゆく護衛艦はつゆき。 3. イラストの拡大。波を立てて海をゆくはつゆきが海上自衛隊の標準色である灰色で描かれている。艦橋やマスト、装備も細かく描かれている。甲板の後方には白いヘリコプターの姿も。他に艦名の由来である雪の結晶のモチーフ (青) や、赤で日本列島が描かれている。 4. タイトルは和文。ワイルドにアレンジされたひらがなで ”はつゆき” (黄) 。サブタイトルは艦番号、ゴシック体の英字とアラビア数字で ”DD122” (黒) 。なお、旗の右端に自衛艦旗が描かれている。
