Take a look at some of the fantastic writing in Y6 this week, based on the story of Hansel and Gretel from the Grimm Tales. Writing a first person narrative, pupils have been retelling the story, focusing on setting descriptions and use of dialogue.

pupils practice the CPA approach from Base and Nursery through to Year 6. CPA helps pupils to deepen their understanding of maths concepts. Well done everyone!

The pupils in Y6 are really enjoying their science unit on ‘Light’ this half term. Lots of opportunities for practical investigations, exploring how shadows are formed and how light travels in straight lines.

In Maths this week, children in Y6 have been developing their understanding of how to multiply and divide decimal number by 10, 100 and 1000. They have created their own place value charts for support.

This week, in humanities, Y6 pupils have been learning about the physical and human features of the UK coastline. Using OS maps of Cornwall, they were then asked to write a tourist information guide for walkers! The National Trust could not have done a better job!

Pupils @brunswickparkps.bsky.social have been writing amazing descriptive pieces of writing around the book 'Winter Sleep'. Year 6 wrote poems and explanation texts using noun of nouns, relative clauses and different sentence types. Well done, Year 6!

In Religion and Worldviews this week, pupils in Y6 have been learning about the views of secular groups like Humanists. After conducting online research, they fed back their findings to the rest of the class. A great opportunity to practise those public speaking skills!

This week, the children in Y6 have really enjoyed reading the whole school text ‘The Winter Sleep’, a beautifully illustrated book on the subject of hibernation. So far, it has provided the inspiration for some fantastic poetry writing….

Year 6 made comparisons between Christianity and Islam, and Abrahmaic and Dharmic religions. Pupils enjoyed sharing their own beliefs and respectfully lisitend to others. As a result, rich discussions and learning occurred. @brunswickparkps.bsky.social

The pupils in Y6 loved their trip to the Imperial War Museum today where they had the opportunity to explore an incredible range of artefacts and exhibits from the First World War. Still one of the best museums in London!
