In captivity, coyotes live up to 20 years. In the wild, coyotes can naturally reach 13-15 years of age. However, hitting this age is rare. According to the Urban Coyote Research Project (UCRP), most wild coyotes die before they are three years old. In fact, researchers for UCRP found that coyotes in the Chicago area only have a 60% chance of reaching their first birthdays. Juvenile coyotes in surrounding rural areas fair even worse: Only around 13% make it through their first year. What causes the difference in survival rates? While coyotes in urban areas as more susceptible to automobile strikes (the highest cause of death for urban coyotes at 40-70%), intensive coyote hunting and trapping plague more rural, agricultural regions. Year-round hunting of coyotes is allowed with no bag limits or other regulatory constraints. Across the United States, over 500,000 coyotes are slaughtered annually. Trapping, shooting, poisoning, and aerial gunning are all implemented in attempt to eradicate coyotes. Interactions with people have increased as coyote populations moved into more populous areas.

A thing I have thought about when it comes to transformation stuff is that when you are transformed in fiction, where is your original form actually stored? An answer like some kind of internal body map could certainly work but that would also raise other questions such as if you are otherkin or trans and someone transforms you into something then back would that make you into whatever form you are such as a woman or dragon or whatever. Another possibility is that it does not get stored at all. This would instead give a sort of impossibility to turn back and would easily be confused with permanence but is just a restriction to original form before tf due to data being lost. The tfee would now have to come up with a new form they are happy in which might be similar to original form or something completely else. One possibility that I do not like is the idea that the form if you are born with is some inherent one that you are somehow supposed to have but I have seen this in fiction and it is essentially both trans and kinmisic. I have seen versions of this also where whatever body one has originally is what they "are" in some level even when transformed like if you had one original form but you are currently are something else by shape you would still be seen as that by people who know your original form. This is essentially a form of transphobia or transmisogyny as people would argue that someone who was AMAB is predatory even if they had been a bunny for like 20 years. Anyway one idea I like is that an original form is lost as it is just shaped by the environment and if you become a shapeshifter then you do not have access to that form anymore as is likely you lose it due to lack of information storage in the spell or such
