"Yell" for Parkinson's has been set up to raise awareness of the needs of Parkinson's patients when they are in-patients in hospital.

It is based on the experience of a Parkinson's in-patient in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

If you can follow this new account and share it, please do.
#parkinsons patient still waiting for their complaint from @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe from April to be answered. Will it ever arrive?

Also, still waiting for their request for their data to be dealt with. Help from ICO sought as long overdue.

Does anybody read the emails at the JR?😕

Consultants @ouhospitals.bsky.social treating #parkinsons in-patients need to look at how other hospitals

If other hospitals can have an integrated service with Parkinson's nurses and OTs/physios on the ward, why can't John Radcliffe?

Why is there only 1 Parkinson's nurse for all Oxford hosptials?

Consultant @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe said to Parkinson's patient after 208 days with minimal physio they were making 'brave decision' to self-discharge to go to another hospital
Consultant's parting words"All the best!"

Grass is greener on other side of fence 👍
PD derseve better in JR

At @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe #parkinsons patients are left to go to waste. After 209 days lying in bed, they had been discharged from ward physio. No therapy. Only told they would never....
New hospital: neuro physio on ward, OT telephoned family, emphasis on being normal and therapy👍

@ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe, needs to URGENTLY review its #parkinsons care.

209 days lying in bed wasting away when they came to have medication balanced is not acceptable.

The absence of proper Parkinsons therapy and interest in Parkinsons has a devastating impact on inpatients.

Parkinsons patient seeing some joined up thinking now.
Parkinson's nurses on the neuro ward.
Parkinson's patients only on neuro ward
Therapy 3 times a week with OT/Physio and nurses taking over to support.
Family invited once a week to therapy.
@ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe, please learn

What's the difference between @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe and new hospital?

#parkinsons patients are dealt with in a neurology ward where they have specialist Parkinsons nurses. In JR Parkinson's patient was seen 2 or 3 times in 209 days by a Parkinson's specialist nurse. Disappointing

After 209 days in @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe, #parkinsons patient asked for transfer for 2nd opinion. Consultant rejected it. Patient self discharged and family went to A&E in new hospital.

What a difference in care/approach at new hospital. Why can't JR care for Parkinson's patients?

Splints reapplied to hand by doctor last night. @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe, why were they taken away from a #parkinsons patient?

Why do you want someone to deteriorate? Is it because patient has made a complaint about the 18kg weight loss in 6 weeks due to under feeding & blood clot?
August 29, 2025 at 10:26 AM
@ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe why are you overdue with a subject access request?

Is there something in the notes that you are trying to hide?

If something goes wrong (eg 18kg of weight loss in 6 wks due to underfeeding) it's always better to own up & put things right or you lose trust

#parkinsons patient is in hospital for 7 months - not getting any physio and today the orthotics person removed their hand splints.

Why does @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe need this patients to decline so fast? Is it related to the outstanding complaint and the 18kg weight loss in 6 wks?

Warning to any @england.nhs.uk in-patient that complains about their experience. Things will just get worse.

#parkinsons patients deserve better than this. They deserve treatment when in hospital particularly neuro physio and speech therapy. Nobody should be left to decondition in an #NHS hospital
August 25, 2025 at 9:53 AM
@england.nhs.uk #parkinsons inpatient promised neuro rehab by 2 consultants. Instead of getting what was promised,John Radcliffe is keeping inpatient in bed ensuring further deconditioning/worsening of Parkinson's symptoms.

Is this what happens if you complain about 18kg weight loss in 6 weeks?

Is it just that @ouhospitals.bsky.social offers a basic package of NHS continuing healthcare for some patients?

Is it like a budget airline and you can add on the extras?

How do you add on neuro rehab and speech therapy at the John Radcliffe? Can you do it online? Can you do it after so many days?
203rd day as an in-patient in @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe for #parkinsons patient
Severe hospital deconditioning

No movement therapy
No speech therapy
No life
#nhs @england.nhs.uk why do create hospital deconditioning then keep them without therapy?

Cheaper to care, treat & send home!

204th day in @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe hospital for #parkinsons in-patient

Still no conversation from the medics about doing anything about the deconditioning and absence of movement therapy.

@england.nhs.uk it seems John Radcliffe offers its own NHS continuing healthcare for some.

Family are doing speech therapy via the phone. What a sad state of affairs at the John Radcliffe.
Is this approach revenge for the in-patient making a complaint after losing 18kg in 6 weeks and getting a blood clot on the neuro ward?
If this is the gold standard, then why is long-term #parkinsons patient @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe not getting this?

They asked for speech therapy to help with speech and just got a communication sheet that is used in ICU. It has phrases for patients to point to.

Again, no therapy.

Is this the state of NHS @nhsenglandceo.bsky.social?

#Parkinsons in-patient @ouhospitals.bsky.social John Radcliffe has been getting speech therapy via the hospital phone from their family who are researching on Google. They made progress in the hour call

JR why deny patients needed treatment?
