I think that they would be more popular right now if they had invested in making more of their exclusive games for switch 1 instead of focusing on launching a switch 2 (which is more of a switch pro) that is mainly better at running games made by other people that are already on other platforms.

Yes, but the steam deck comparison falls apart when I have 10 years of games on steam, can buy games for a 5th or sometimes less than the price on Nintendo and as an engineer I can write code on my steam deck to control robots. Also why is every exclusive game 60€ for ever? Playstation sells for 10€

Nintendo was founded on using cheap hardware to keep costs low and using creativity to give it life, but this time they just decided to try to increase power and put a better screen and make it more expensive like every other company
