Real good stuff

Sometimes being set up for defence contracts globally is all the innovation you need. And the willingness to sign and deliver them.

I think the only reason we haven’t seen “militia” guys throw on their tacticool swag and go around murdering people they don’t like the look of in blue cities with impunity is that why do that for free if you can join ICE and get paid well for it?
January 27, 2026 at 6:56 AM
Am I supposed to know who these guys are?
January 26, 2026 at 5:55 PM
The mirror gave away the trick 😁

Then there will be a real test of political power and where allegiances lie, but that could end up going either way.
January 25, 2026 at 4:40 PM
Like, what’s the difference between refusing to swear in one elected official and 50?
Trump will just mumble some incoherent BS about the election results being illegitimate and just keep doing what he’s doing.
January 25, 2026 at 4:40 PM
Why would they need to rig anything? They’ve already shown they are completely willing to just ignore election results they don’t like.
January 25, 2026 at 4:40 PM
Maybe, just maybe, when people who don’t work with their hands say stuff like this they should have tomatoes pelted at them.

January 21, 2026 at 8:07 AM
Oh and space travel of course. And all other rockets.
January 20, 2026 at 5:48 PM
Some people will also say cooking but you’ve already repeatedly made a convincing case that they are wrong.
January 20, 2026 at 5:47 PM
The big ones I always hear about are flight, smelting, concrete (I think?), ocean travel and probably some others.
Together these feel like a pretty big deal.
January 20, 2026 at 5:46 PM
All this is to say that at least for me this is an interesting angle that I would love you to cover. In what applications is the problem still energy density and/or conversion speed? Are we on track to deal with this? How? And how big a deal is this?
January 20, 2026 at 5:46 PM
It’s only recently that we’ve managed to pull off good enough energy density for getting you to the dentist or even a national park using anything else (still noticeably less than oil though).
January 20, 2026 at 5:46 PM
The only non-silly part of it is that petrochemicals are borderline magic juice with unbelievable energy density which can be converted relatively efficiently and extremely quickly (if you need) in reasonable form factors at reasonable prices.
January 20, 2026 at 5:46 PM
They can skibidy toilet all they want but I think it’s fair to want to protect them from LLM psychosis induced suicide.
January 20, 2026 at 3:29 PM
I dunno man, I try to be with the times but objecting to my children developing emotional relationships with an API endpoint to a large multinational corporation doesn’t feel like pearl clutching to me.
January 20, 2026 at 3:28 PM
I remember discussing this with you once here but I remember that when I was younger lead-acid batteries in the ocean/disadvantaged countries/other bad places used to be a real problem.
Is this just solved at this point?
January 20, 2026 at 3:23 PM

Great news! I’ve been waiting for this
January 16, 2026 at 3:20 PM
January 16, 2026 at 8:29 AM
But why? If there’s anything we can pretty reliably say about Trump is that in nearly all things he is purely transactional.
What does he stand to gain?
