What are we making of Black Doves? I’m half way through. Great leads, obvs, and location scouting. Yet I’m finding it ‘very television’ in parts. And isn’t it astonishing how so much of London seems to have nobody living in it? #blackdoves

Also finally got round to Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (which for ‘reasons’ was impossible to see on transmission/Christ child day). Brilliant! Loved the movie pastiches, the narrowboat chase, and most of all - of course - the silent evil mastermind Feathers McGraw’s return. Encore!

Finally seen Boys From The Blackstuff, from 1982. I’ve watched Bernard Hill in so many roles - Shirley Valentine’s husband, the Titanic’s captain, king of the rohirrim, much else - but no wonder, from a time of three TV channels, his Yosser Hughes was the role headlining his obits. What a series.
