Living in Somerset, I don’t get many opportunities to see Lapland Bunting so this one on Wingletang was a very nice bonus this afternoon. Six years since my last! #ukbirding

Only had a few short hours on St Agnes this afternoon, so it’s a good thing everything showed well straight away! Mourning Dove, Buff-bellied Pipit, Spotted Sandpiper, Hoopoe and Lapland Bunting plus a Great Shearwater from the Scillonian #ukbirding

I couldn’t tell if the hoverfly I glimpsed in July was Meliscaeva cinctella or Melangyna cincta, but this week it seems I’ve seen one of each! My 5th and 6th garden ticks this year.

I always enjoy getting reacquainted with Yellow-legged Gulls at this time of year. Juveniles at Lodmoor and Portland Bill this afternoon.
