Last week kids played with Playmobil. They held an election which figurine would become mayor. In the show afterwards everyone held speeches and they applauded. I’m confused and a bit weirded out. I expect there will be a mud campaign in 6 years.

Wife did my hair. Daughter plucked the hair off me, pulling chest hair out as well. Afterwards she combed my hair while telling me she was going to make me: “Pretty. Pretty. Pretty. And also tough.“ She praised my toughness after this hair cut and petted me on my head. 10/10, would go again.

Leaving for music lesson. Neighbour’s dog is passing by, goes flat against the ground, trying to get pets. Neighbour trying to continue the walk, dog ignoring him, crawling closer to try to get pets. Daughter tells dog she can’t pet without permission. Proud she remembers as she really wants to pet

He didn’t. Son clings on to the GP win.
While I was trying out the new F1 25 game, toddler belted out “Max Verstappen!” to the tune of Bob The Builder. Can he fix this Championship? Yes, he can! (Or so my son believes)

Kids eating their chocolate. “Remember the great chocolate stain of November 2025! Eat at the table and wash hands and face afterwards!” 10 seconds in, daughter has a stain on her dress. Of course.

Daughter fell asleep after dinner. Woke her up to brush her teeth and “place her shoe” for Saint Nicolas (they get some candy every morning, gifts on December 6th, 5th in The Netherlands). Mother gave very groggy daughter a carrot for St Nicolas’ horse. She almost mindlessly started eating it.

Son studying French, mother helping out. Phrase: “Je vais à…” Son thinking … daughter wants to help: “à…à… Alakazam!” One of my fave pokémon so I’ll let it slide.

I have a morning routine: exiting bathroom means we leave for school. I broke the routine today. After bathroom, I entered the living room where the kids were all ready to go. See? They can be ready in time, they just chose not to all the other days.

I buckled in an argument with my daughter: Max Verstappen now lives in Brussels and is fully Belgian.

Son figured out that bpost means Belgian Post. “What about Deutsche Post?”, I asked. He didn’t know so I suggested Chinese Post. He went with it. Not-toddler-anymore barely contained her eyes from rolling and helped him with “It’s German… something something.”

Highlight of The Lion King: Rafiki’s bare buttocks.

Halloween at school. Kids are allowed to dress up. Daughter went as knight “because princesses don’t kill dragons!”. She should have gone as a Valkyree.

It seems French got an upgrade last time I spoke. Daughter: “Comment ça va bruh? Ça va bien, bruh!”

Unknown kids are playing outside. Both our kids going outside to play with them. Son returns after 5 minutes. Had to fetch the daughter. Two totally different characters.

New kid on the block. Daughter already playing with her. Son is policing them off the streets. Wife told her lunch in 5 minutes. New kid asked to join in (not culture hete to do so without talking to parents). Son is setting table for all the kids, unaware of social convention.Very thoughtful of him

Toddler isn’t toddler anymore. Second day of school she returned with homework. She described it (in English!) as “Easy, bruh!”.

Red Bone’s Come and get your love entered our music selection through son’s “Lego Marvel Superheroes 2”. Toddler likes it as well. She yells “Come and ketchup love!”

Son singing a German song he learnt during a holidaycamp. Wife asks if he knows what he’s singing. “Yes.” -“So what are you singing?” “German.” He’s building his dad joke repertoire.

We were guessing eachother’s face Pokémon. Toddler liked them all but had to pick 1. It’s number 1080 (doesn’t exist) with 500 attack (does’t exist). It has three horns, is very heavy, has a tail,… When asked if she was describing a triceratops, she said no. Pretty sure it was one though.

Toddler passing the neighbour, opening car window: “Hello Henry! Henry! Hi!” -“Hello sweety, how are you?” “Good! Byebye!” Closes the window. “Daddy, was that our neighbour Henry?”

Son goes on holiday in France with other kids. “Do you know any French?”, I wondered -“Un croissant s’il vous plaît.” “Do you know anything non-food related?” -“Oui.” My wife dryly noted he has my sense of humour.

Belgium-Italy, Women’s Euro Cup. Italians singing national anthem. While singing “Italia! Italia!”, son asks if they’re from Spain. 😳
