I’ve always understood gentrification as evil, but as a white, middle-class, grew-up-in-the-middle-of-nowhere gal, I have never had it impact me deeply. As a very queer person, I have noticed that straight men have been baristas and trader joes employees lately, and now I *really* get it.

The trolley problem except it’s getting up from the seat I’ve had next to a stranger on a long train ride to sit in newly empty seats versus doing nothing because what if he thinks we’re pals and moving is mean??
