I don't think I like fighting games punishing you for blocking for the most part (beyond chip damage ofc). I think blocking in the first place should be punishment enough. Guard bars, RISC, SF6 & COTW drive meter reudction, etc.

Not detrimental design and I understand the purpose, but not a fan.

Recently finished books by Sayaka Murata, Kazushige Abe, and Jenny Erpenbeck. Although I will always praise "Convenience Store Woman," I'm kinda done with her style of shock lit. And although I like Erpenbeck, maybe limiting myself to one of her books per year is the play.
