Heaven. 6,500 ft. Bald Eagle flyby. Usually this place is buried in snow at this time of year.

On sunrises and sunsets:

Every day presents an opportunity to capture the sun’s twice-daily spectacle. It seems like this time of year we get a lot of color. Some low light that hits everything just right. The golden hue that warms everything even when the temperature is far below freezing.

I’ve come around to the conclusion that I don’t belong here any more or any less than anyone else.

Humans are migratory animals.

Mother Nature owns the land, we’re just borrowing it for awhile, from future generations.

There’s too many people on our planet. Makes people angry, crazy.

Can’t figure out if I’m in a bad mood because my body hurts, or if my body hurts because I’m in a bad mood.

Everything is really heavy right now. I feel off, but I’ll be okay. It’s everyone else I’m worried about. Take care of each other. Be kind, or kindly fuck off.

I am so fortunate to have places like this in my backyard.

Our public lands have priceless value. Plant and animal habitat, oxygen, carbon storage, clean water… more than anything, nature lifts us up, restores our spirit.

Much gratitude, Mother Nature.

A nearby lake drains through lava tubes, porous volcanic rock.

As the seasons change, it gets cold and fills with water. Due to shallow depths, below freezing temperatures, and a lack of sun for several months, it freezes over completely.

Winter is near, but keeping a respectful distance.

Great beer, not just an amazing label.

We’ve been in an inversion all day, all cold and cloudy. No color tonight.

Last night, Mother Nature put on quite a show.

Who knew that this would become one of my favorite places?

Watching the clouds dance with Three Finger Jack, the peak in the background.

Good morning, all!

One of my favorite wildlife refuges. 64 degrees. Off-season. Some ducks coming into breeding plumage. Shrike, Marsh Wren, Bald Eagle, Song Sparrow, Red-tailed Hawk, Great Blue Heron, Northern Harrier, Golden Eagle, American Coot, Tundra Swan, Common Raven, American Robin, Great Horned Owl…

Some nature photos to help alleviate the ugliness of our world.

Good will prevail over the evil empire fucking with our lives.

6,500 ft yesterday. It has snowed, but melted off.

First place I ever hiked.
