Lime scooters in DC are speed limited to 18mph, Veo to 15, though DC regs say they shouldn't go above 10. So, maybe?

Also that these are legal on sidewalks, but riding a dockless scooter isn't, is odd.

Lower assessments on the older houses, that is.

Pardon, QOL

IF a large number of new THs do get built here, that would show a huge unmet demand for THs in this part of MoCo, beyond what exists in, for example North Arlington.
December 12, 2025 at 8:41 PM
Even IF assessments ignored age, a decline in sales prices for the large numbers of surviving older houses would outweigh a couple of new THs. In most places where such upzoning has happened only a few new THs get built.

So a 1947 house assessment would go up when prices for older houses go up. But if COL down, that wouldn't happen.
December 12, 2025 at 8:38 PM
In most jurisdictions assessments reflect housing age, at least in Virginia, iiuc. If a 1947 house is assesed based on average prices of 2025 new builds that would be a basis for appeal.

Fed funding MIGHT have meant doing DC streetcar right. Extended to K Street with dedicated space. Hate mixed traffic streetcar as much as you want, the incompetence of the delivery makes DC a bad example for the case that it never works

First of all, local funding is a huge problem in the several large metros that overlap state lines. Not as bad, but still problematic for projects involoving multiple jurisdictions in one state. And as long as highways receive fed funding, the change would bias among modes.

I probably won't, but some important stuff on the agenda.

To be clear, I don't know if the Dem establishment strategy is optimal. But recent events, elections, polls, don't show its wrong. Other approaches might have done better, but could have done worse.
