If saying Israel should be allowed to exist is pro-israel then you've destroyed the meaning of the term.

There are leftists I respect greatly: I was a fan of Contrapoints before she came out as nonbinary, I have dear friends who are better than me along every relevant axis, but these people often end up eaten by the movement and it makes a part of me hate it. There's no better society, here

there's probably a "direction" in the hyperdimensional model space that maps to polarized ends of the culture war and by pushing it away from one end you push it to the other

And even in more moderate states that are more polarized, lefties can often pose a primary threat, and research tends to show that lefties nominated in those circumstances tend to lose the party seats on average

I think the dimension that you're missing is that Dems in safely Dem states don't run against Republicans, the only race of consequence is their party primary where the main threat IS lefties.
Dems whose focus is mostly in-party really are more at war with lefties
