A map to a forgotten valley where the honey is sweet & the children are sent away with vacant eyes. Every path leads closer to the hive's embrace.

Stunning art by @danielharila.bsky.social for my Cairn folk horror adventure, The Beekeeper's Tithe.

I painted this GM screen for Old School Essentials, catering to all your old-school gaming needs. It's available for Pre-Order over on the Exalted Funeral website (link in bio). I'm excited to see this screen listed. Acrylic on canvas. 60x18. #ose #oldschoolessentials #osr #ttrpgart #fantasyart

There are old paths through the woods that wise folk shun. You are not wise.

Soon you'll be able to explore them in my upcoming, fully illustrated Folk Horror adventure for Cairn.

Amazing cover illustration by @danielharila.bsky.social

New post! I'm turning “No Peace for the Heathen” into a setting zine for OSR games. Also, I might make a companion wargame/skirmish zine in the same setting. 😌

And yes... I did re-activate this account specifically to make this announcement.

No, I didn't realize he'd become such a pariah. I have long has issues with his occasional platforming (willful or no), but I did not consider him a bad actor.
I'm still not convinced, which gets back to my point: this is not a place for nuance.

I'm out

Ack I'm blocked and can't link to it anymore. I don't have a problem with disagreement - it was the subtweeting I can no longer link to.
yochaigal.bsky.social
The issue wasn't replies to the post, it was subtweeting and the things people said (I was called a coward, for instance). I didn't mind the replies there.

Just not the kind of engagement I'm interested in, and anyone who knew me or the work I've been involved in the past few years would know that.

To put it in other words: after yesterday, I think I'm getting off Bluesky. It isn't worth the tradeoff for me. I think people on the same side can disagree about some things without some purity tests and moral outrage.

If this is the result that folks wanted, then they got what they wanted!

...their subjects, and have a responsibility to uphold. But holy shit, people need to cut some slack sometimes. I have done A LOT of work trying to cull the bad folks from the various corners of this hobby that I'm in, and I don't really feel like I - or anyone - deserve the kind of response I got.
yochaigal.bsky.social
I think the subtweeting and dogpiling is not helpful. I also don't think there is consensus - platforming is bad, no question. But I still have yet to see any kind of evidence he has said or done anything bigoted. I am sympathetic with the argument that platformers tacitly (by will or no) support...
yochaigal.bsky.social
All of this information is new to me. One issue I have with all this is that not everyone knows everything, and when folks dogpile on top of someone posting a link it causes unnecessary drama.

At least that's how I felt after yesterday's "incident."

I just don't focus on him that much. Honestly there are pretty big fish to fry that I'm combating every day (go ahead and Google AgeOfDusk to find entire blog posts about my evil Jewish conspiracy).

I think folks (including me) should give everyone the benefit of the doubt!

Yeah I think this is the deciding factor: after the red room incident people really started writing him off, which is understandable. I haven't given him much thought recently, I was sent the video and posted it without really thinking.

We should try to promote more good faith call-outs!

I think I know what you mean!

Oh for sure, I thought he had walked that back? Like I thought he simply didn't do basic research, then gave the money back when people got pissed.

Yet another "apolitical" decision with bad results.
