All I can ever hope is that you see a post of mine and think “that guy is only medium stupid”
yogabapentin.bsky.social
It’s sooooo close though lol

Hell yeah! I love Kurt Vonnegut

“Bluesky is a leftist hellscape full of miserable people finding minor things to disagree about when they otherwise agree”

Seems like a skill issue. I’ve never had this problem. Maybe you’re just not as left wing as you fancy yourself to be?

Won’t somebody please think of the AI!!

I also had a hyper fixation on the album dorkrockcorkrod by The Ergs! It’s music that should have been popular but wasn’t for some reason. There’s a Steve Albini mix of the album that came out like last year and that’s the one

Their most recent album is pretty good. A return to form in many ways but also much larger in scope. I love Will Toledo bless his Tumblr furry soul

Maybe I’m underestimating their popularity but I don’t think people appreciate Built to Spill enough

Many of Nick Thorburn’s side projects are also good. Islands, Human Highway, Mister Heavenly, and Reefer have all been in heavy rotation for me at times

It’s crazy how many right wing influencers and elected officials are just guys who tried stand up once, bombed, and decided that the solution was to find an audience that’s forced to listen to them

“The first thing he was in lives in a nostalgic place in my head because I was a teenager when I watched it”

There is also, I think, a specific niche of Gen X’er who loves him because of My So-Called Life

It was very funny recently I went to see a movie and it was when the Tron Ares trailer had just started to run. Some guy in the audience went “ooh” when he saw it was a Tron movie, then was immediately like “aw man, what the fuck??” When he saw Jared Leto’s face

Vonnegut would have liked Cobain and vice versa, there is solidarity in the Kurts

Go look at this one too

Do you not think they missed an opportunity by not protesting the parade? Does that not send a clearer message? Couldn’t the takeaway in this example be that there’s just two ways to be?

Obligatory Jenny Nicholson Tweet
Jenny Nicholson Tweet:

How come major film studios keep being like Jared Leto may have allegations, but at least he looks weird, stars in box office bombs, and is not a good actor
yogabapentin.bsky.social
I’m glad you see a message, but the question is: does the protest have one? Is the message getting across? Is the media portraying it correctly? The same day as the first No Kings protest, Trump successfully had a military parade. Uninterrupted because people were at the protest.

This is how we win: keep preemptively doing things in an attempt to pacify the fascists who’ve made it clear they’re coming for us no matter what. 5D chess
yogabapentin.bsky.social
If Gavin Newsom were actually cool and radical he would withhold the ~$800 billion California pays in taxes as an act of protest
yogabapentin.bsky.social
This is effectively commonplace stuff and standard practice across the industry. Would you prefer a human review every unacceptable image that gets posted on a site with millions of users
yogabapentin.bsky.social
Am I misunderstanding something? Trust me the mods of this site are on my shit list— but I think y’all might be confused. Using image recognition for moderation is not the same as feeding an LLM
yogabapentin.bsky.social
I’m mot telling you not to protest. I’m telling you that a protest with no real message is easy to characterize as a partisan disagreement and nothing more.
yogabapentin.bsky.social
Release the butthole files!
yogabapentin.bsky.social
Does a “peaceful protest” also mean that police or ice or the national guard shouldn’t be firing into crowds and killing unarmed civilian? Sorry I want to make sure we’re clear on a definition here
