Wednesday on Halloween Friday 🖤

Built the black dahlia flower set on stream tonight and i absolutely love every detail! One of the best non-bird sets i've put together! Happy Halloween, everyone 🎃

Finally got the video uploaded! This is filmed 10x zoomed in on my phone, so from as far back as i was, it looked like a trumpeter. But once i screenshot and zoomed in even more that tundra swan yellow spot was visible. I'm still so shocked this happened! 🪶 #birds #tommythompsonpark

Probably just got my wildest lifer and it was a total fluke!

I was birding Tommy Thompson Park in Toronto yesterday and stumbled upon swans on the beach. I didn't wanna scare them so i stayed back and took a video. I thought it was a mute & trumpeter but i think it's actually a tundra swan! OMG 🪶
Zoomed out beach view of the side profiles of a mute swan with an orange beak and a smaller swan with a black beak--what i thought was just a trumpeter swan without being up any closer since there were at least 3 trumpeters in this same group. Zoomed in view of the same black-beaked swan but now you can see the faint, small patch of yellow just between the eyes and beak, which is the marking for a tundra swan. It's considered very rare for Toronto and most likely migrating through.

Didn't realize how absolutely exhausted i was after spending a whole weekend with my little nephews until i woke up today and looked at my phone and it was 11:10am. I haven't slept this late in so long i can't remember the last time. It was worth it though 😂 2 year old bday parties are a blast!!!

Happy #WorldTurtleDay to this adorable Blanding's turtle that was spotted in the empty Long Point Provincial Park campground a few weeks ago. Are lifer turts a thing cuz it was my first time seeing one of them! Not fully endangered in Ontario but they still need protection from habitat loss!

The Ugly Stepsister really surprised me in the best way and was full of body horror that made me feel sick (complimentary). I'm all for the fairy tales going back to their nasty roots if it's as good as this one. Comparisons to The Substance are inevitable and they'd make a good double feature tbh!

Grand River sunset after a great birding day at home in KW 😍

After hearing some warblers on merlin, i successfully found an ovenbird, nashville, 2 palms, a ton of butterbutts, and maybe a black-throated green (flew off before i could focus the binoculars lol)

I went to Long Point for the 1st time today and saw birdbanding up close (i released a blue jay!!!), a million swallows, many warbler lifers, bald eagles nesting, a tan morph white-throated sparrow, sandhill cranes, a dozen mute swans (one dead up close), and mooore! Thank you @songbirder.social 🐦🪶

Oh wow i wonder if that's the same one i just met in niagara falls at a CRC outreach event! My photo is only a cell pic so not as detailed to compare, but this guy is 8 year old Gordie!
