Rewatched Eraserhead last night. Incredible how fully formed Lynch’s artistic vision was at this early stage. The final scene with the radiator woman hugging Henry in the blazing whiteness to the sound of that ear scorching/fondling noise (also by Lynch) had me in transcendental tears.

Amazing to learn that Mel Brooks - MEL BROOKS! - produced The Elephant Man, but then you see them both talk about each other and you get it. Pure mutual love and respect from one mensch to another.
