Not exactly related, but my team keeps a count of how many times we hear “Hey! Can you just put that in my truck/car house?” When moving TVs to a job site.
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

This weekends unexpected home repair? My water heater crapped out. Luckily the tank is still in decent condition so I threw in new themoststs, heating elements, and a new anode in for good measure. A service and flush was on my winter shutdown project list, it just decided to up the timeframe 🤣

Had job offers for both CATV tech and a MRI coil repair job. The CATV job seemed more interesting and had better hours (or so I thought 🤣)

Nothing like a nice work project win right before leaving for the weekend. I got our potential scheduling touch panels commutating with Office 365 for the next new building on campus. So now I can test the proof of concept!

I’ve gotten into Arc Raiders (blaming @tobidoge.bsky.social) and one thing I think it needs is an “A$$hole list” so I can keep track of the jerks who kill me for seemingly stupid reasons. Why? So I can go Inigo Montonya on them later when I got better gear 🤣

We ran into a clearance issue for a ceiling mount speaker at work. My boss, jokingly asked “Dex, you think you could 3D print a trim ring for this?”
Me: “What’s the speaker diameter?”
Him: “uhhh. 13 1/4 inches”
Me: “Yeah, I think so…”
So yeah, having a large printer rocks at times 🤣

Digital audio torrenters; do you notice sometimes that torrented music has little micro-skips or occasional bursts of static in the middle of tracks? Is there something wrong with the files I’m downloading? Is it a problem with the source rip? Is it a byproduct of torrenting? Is it my audio player?
