We welcome the long overdue ceasefire and hope to see it made permanent. Aid, water and electricity must be returned to Gaza, alongside justice for lsraeli war crimes.

IT'S TIME TO 🧵👇 [1/6]

A big blanket VAT cut? It's a bad idea. Better to give smarter, more targetted supports for cafes and restaurants.

We've set out a way to give more to small businesses while spending about a third of what the government are planning.

Be smart: do more, spend less!

We say no to increasing student fees. We’re being clear and honest with what we want, unlike James Lawless.

A government that’s failing to solve the student accommodation crisis is charging an extra €500 for students to go to college. They’re also still pretending it’s a fee reduction! This isn’t a fair deal, it isn’t what was promised by the government, and it is going to push people out of college.
A picture of Higher Education Minister James Lawless in a red hat with a cheeseburger on it in a fast food setting.

The post reads

Student Accommodation Crisis? Would you like extra fees with that?

This freshers week do you really want to sign up to increased student fees from Fianna Fáil? Tell Minister James Lawless students are done being the first target whenever things get rocky!

We call on the government to do the right thing, commit to the promises they made at election time, and actually reduce student fees.
younggreens.ie
This alongside other cost of living measures being cut by government shows that they do not care about people who are struggling, and will happily gaslight them with fake reductions.
James, you hold a degree in mathemathics so you should know €2,500 is more than the €2,000 students were paying last year!
We won't meet in the middle on student fees.
younggreens.ie
Instead of raising fees by 1000 euro, he’s going to put 500 euro back in students and families pockets. Maybe he needs to go back to college though because he should know €2,500 is not a reduction from the €2,000 students were paying last year.

As we’re out on freshers stands this week we’re hearing first hand from students the stress they are facing over increased student fees, don’t worry though, James Lawless has a plan to save the day!
James lawless wants you to pay €500 in student fees, even worse, he’s trying to pass it off as a fee reduction

RTÉ feels that Ireland’s participation would be unconscionable given the ongoing and appalling loss of lives in Gaza.

It is RTÉ’s position that Ireland will not take part in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest if the participation of Israel goes ahead, and the final decision regarding Ireland’s participation will be made once the EBU’s decision is made.
younggreens.ie
RTÉ wishes to thank the EBU for the extensive consultation process that was initiated on foot of that meeting, and the extension of the option to withdraw from participation without penalty to December.

RTÉ Statement: 2026 Eurovision Song Contest

“At the General Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in July, a number of EBU members raised concerns about the participation of Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest.

We are delighted to see RTÉ are finally listening to those who have been calling to #BoycottEurovision for many years. We believe this decision is long overdue but it is better late than never. You can read their full statement below.

Our @greenpartyie.bsky.social think-in kickstarted with a press conference.

We're ready for the term ahead, to rebuild and build alliances with with other progressive parties and independents.

Nature restoration and climate action are being sidelined here and in Europe. Our voice is needed.
