I was interrupted by Senator Pam Wallin who complained that my use of the term “genocide” was “taxing”. Her Point of Order was rejected but she is right to be troubled by this characterization of Israel’s actions in Gaza. We should all be very troubled by the genocide in Gaza.

Le génocide est le « crime de tous les crimes ». Selon l’ONU et plusieurs juristes et organismes de défense des droits de la personne, les actions d’Israël dans la bande de Gaza remplissent les critères permettant d’affirmer qu’il s’agit bien d’un génocide.

Je condamne les attaques du 7 octobre 2023 contre les Juifs du monde. Je répète que nous devons demeurer vigilants par rapport à l’antisémitisme et nous souvenir de l’Holocauste, en partant du principe qu’il ne doit « plus jamais » y avoir de génocide.

Genocide is the "crime of crimes." According to the UN, legal experts, and human rights bodies, Israel’s actions in Gaza meet the criteria for that crime. We are allowing again what should have been never again. #GazaGenocide

I condemn the October 7, 2023 attacks and attacks on Jews across the world. I reaffirm the need for vigilance against antisemitism, and the importance of holocaust remembrance, which at its core is about "Never Again" allowing a genocide to be perpetrated.

Considering the material and long-lasting harm to CFSGM and CSQ, CUAME calls on restitution and repair from the Government of Canada. Both CFSGM and CSQ have played vital roles in supporting newcomers, seniors, women, and vulnerable youth in Quebec.

While this decision affirms the importance of due process, CUAME remains deeply troubled by the heavy toll that the unsubstantiated allegations leading to the investigation has had on the organizations and on the wider Chinese Canadian community.
