🧵@carpentries.carpentries.org was set to get an US National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to make an open source (computer coding) ecosystem from a proposal submitted last fall.

The Trump administration told them they had to cease all DEI activity to receive the funds.

They withdrew the grant.

I am beyond excited to announce that ggplot2 4.0.0 has just landed on CRAN.

It's not every day we have a new major #ggplot2 release but it is a fitting 18 year birthday present for the package.

Get an overview of the release in this blog post and be on the lookout for more in-depth posts #rstats

A little demo of reactive SQL in Observable Notebooks 2.0, first using (native) DuckDB to bake data from a remote source, followed by DuckDB-Wasm to create and query reactive views in the client. Should be released this week!

Woo hoo! The nloptr package is now supported in webR, which means we now have access to the lme4 package for mixed effects modeling! This brings a great deal of statistical modeling power to serverless R workflows. Great work @gws.phd!

Thanks to some joint work with @jeroenooms.bsky.social the latest dev build of webR now supports the {curl} package, along with many other packages that rely on it! 🎉 If you're able to use a WebSocket SOCKS proxy (outside of the browser), you can now use {curl} to make HTTP requests in webR.

savvy v0.8.13 is released!🎉 This version contains a small improvement to handle a scalar NA nicely. This is what I felt a bit boring when I ported a package from extendr to savvy.

It's sad that this package has been broken like this at least since several months ago, yet no one except me noticed...
